Sorry I didn’t write today as I have been sick with a sinus infection, hurt my back and my son has been sick since Father’s Day and is finishing up with double ear infections… so with that said, one thing that I discovered yesterday is a video series by Kevin Rose (Founder of Digg.com) and Google Ventures. The series is call Foundation and is simply exceptional to watch if you are involved with the internet in any way!
The interviews are with many early site builders of the web and even before the web!
So far, I am only two series in and have watch two of the currently 38 episodes available.
I watched the chat between Kevin Rose and SquareSpace founder Anthony Casalena and the 50 minute episode flew by. I had wrote a couple small stories about domain names like Anchor.com (which he mentions in the video) and several other Anthony Casalena domains lately, so it was fitting and interesting to watch! Several chats about domain names in this video as well.
Here is that episode, on TechCrunch as I didn’t see it yet on the actual Foundation site.
The second one I watched is with Blogger.com, Twitter.com and Medium.com Founder / Co-Founder, EV Williams. Very interesting to hear how thing almost fell apart with Blogger, how they named the site, domains and a lot more chat in general! This one is over an hour long, but again… these are raw with a ton of interesting information, so I think the hour of time is well worth it!
I love to suck up information and the Foundation series is FULL of amazing information, internet history and I can’t wait to watch all of the episodes.
So, if you were not aware of the Foundation series with Kevin Rose, I highly suggest you take the time and at least watch an episode and I’m sure you will be like me and watch many more. The series it self is on the domain name Foundation.bz but was advertised in the video as Foundation.kr . Upon visiting the .kr domain, it redirects to the .bz… not sure what is up with that or the domain they used but whatever!
I never heard about this series but it sounds very interesting.
