Welcome to company domain movers in a series I call DotWeekly Discoveries powered by DomainIQ.com. A detailed look at domain names large companies are registering, purchasing and simply moving for one reason or another. As always, these are often early discoveries into what companies may be doing in the near future with product launches, marketing terms and much more.
I try to add information with each domain but I do not always discover much or lack the time to dig a ton due to the volume of domains I post, so more info can often be discovered with a bit more digging into specific domains. I try my best to provide the info though.
WestCoast.com
May have been sold. WestCoast.com was registered to Haymarket Media Group Limited and registered at CSC Corporate Domains and now the domain has transferred to GoDaddy.com and put under whois privacy. Currently the domain resolves to a simple standard GoDaddy landing page.
West Coast Labs, a testing facilities was using the domain until recently.
There is a potential that Emerson Tool Company is behind the WestCoast.com domain name in some way? It’s a hunch!
Hasbro, Inc.
Has revealed they were behind the domain name registrations of ClueJunior.com and ClueJuniorMovie.com . ClueJr.com has been owned by Hasbro for a long time and is a game they offer.
Bank Of America
Owns a lot of domain names and makes my job a lot harder everyday, because they constantly make changes in whois. This adds hundreds of domain names to lists that I dig.
CustomerLink.com
Which showed CarAnything.com Inc. as the owners prior according to whois, now displays Intuit Inc. as the owners. I’m not sure if the two were connected before but they may have been.
Has used the law firm Kallard Group, Inc to help them purchase the domain name SalesConnect.com for an undisclosed amount.
Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company
Registered the domain names MakeSafeHappen.com .net .org and .us
Callaway Golf Company
Allowed the domain name X-16.com to expire, which they owned since about 2002. The domain was grabbed on the drop.
Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (Keurig)
Has switched its “main domain” from GreenMountainCoffee.com to Keurig.com . Visitors to GreenMountainCoffee.com are welcomed to a specific landing page that states: “There’s nothing wrong with your computer. Hello GreenMountainCoffee.com visitors! We have moved our online store to our sister site Keurig.com in order to best serve your needs.”
The whole page explains things and in general does a very nice job of the transition.
Diners Club International Ltd. (Owned by Discover Card)
Purchased the domain name VipDiners.com on June 20, 2014 likely on the the drop. The domain appears to have been “won” by Winston & Strawn LLP and now is shown in whois as Diners Club. The likely auction took place via SnapNames due to the current registrar of the domain (SaveTheName.com). They also registered the domain VipDiners.net the same day.
Diners Club has an interesting back story on how it was created, so if you have a minute and like to read those kind of things, take a look at the Wikipedia story of Diners Club. Mainly the Origins and History.
Water Pik, Inc.
Is likely getting ready to launch some kind of “offer” via TV ads. They registered several WaterPikTVOffer.com domain names in several different spellings. WaterPickTVOffer.com, WaterPixTVOffer.com etc. They also registered the typo domain WaterFloser.com so that may indicate they may use the proper spelling of that domain, WaterFlosser.com in an ad as well. They own the proper spelling and forward WaterFlosser.com to WaterPik.com
Unknown
A currently unknown company has purchased the domain name Wish.me for an undisclosed amount.
SquareBridge.com
Has been purchased on behalf of a currently unknown CSC Corporate Domains client. The domain was listed for sale for $2,195.
AbbVie Inc. (Abbott)
Has purchased the domain name BodyOfProof.com . The domain was listed for sale for $2,499
TD Ameritrade
Has purchased the domain name TheTickerTape.com for $5,000 . They used a secret buyer to help acquire the domain on or about June 22, 2014.
Bridgestone Retail Operations, LLC
Had the domain name CreditFirst.com transfer in from BFS Diversified Products, LLC which appears to be a division of Firestone. Bridgestone owns Firestone.
ALERE SWITZERLAND GMBH
Has purchased the domain name WellbeingFirst.com . The domain was parked at Sedo. The domain had a listing price of $1,596 so I would expect the sales price to be around that.
Frito-Lay North America, Inc
Registered the domain name SnackMakeover.com
Microsoft Corporation
Has purchased the domain name Sway.net to go along with its Sway.com purchase that I broke the news on. Sway.com is live btw, basically in beta but they call it “preview”. They also registered MicrosoftSway.net, MicrosoftOfficeSway.com, OfficeSway.com and OfficeSway.net .
Poker.net
Something is up with the domain. Epium Plc was shown as the owner dating back to at least 2010. Whois changed to Casino.net as the owners, which is also owned by Epium. Now Poker.net is listed for sale via Sedo and parked with Sedo. Epium may just be looking to sell it.
They have also listed the domain names Sports.net and Daytona.net
BAYER AG
Allowed the domain name Zeto.com to expire? According to historical whois records on 2/7/2014 the expire date for Zeto.com was 7/1/2015 but by 7/11/2014 the domain was removed from the registry and grabbed by SafeNames. Even dating back to 11/22/2013 the expire date on Zeto.com was 7/1/2015… so this tells me it was a “forced drop”. The domain has now transferred out of SafeNames to Dynadot. A Michael Bilde of One Ventures has been shown as the owners since it was grabbed on 7/11/2014.
Unknown
A currently unknown company has purchased the domain name Magnolio.com from Mike Mann’s DomainMarket.com for an unspecified amount. The term in general relates to a plant species.
Mozilla Corporation
Has purchased the domain name OpenStandard.com . I wasn’t able to find a publicly displayed sales price. The domain was listed on Sedo but that listing still remains, so it likely wasn’t purchased at Sedo. The domain was registered on September 26, 2000. The seller according to whois was Modern Empire Internet Ltd.
SquareBridge = Square, Inc
