I took a much needed break yesterday but today I’m back at it with a big and juicy list of domain names that were either purchases, registered or simply moving by some of the largest companies on the web. DotWeekly digs hard for this info and provides it here for the love of sharing. A lot of fresh and upcoming things from several companies, so enjoy. Some big money being spent on domain names!
Del Monte Foods
Has acquired the domain name BigHeart.com on or about 5/9/2014 for an undisclosed sum (it was likely five figures + if not more). They also appear to have acquired the BigHeart.info and
Big-Heart.info, and Big-Heart.com (and maybe more, but BigHeart.com was the most important).
On 2/19/2014 Del Monte announced a new name for it’s Pet Products business and it is: Big Heart pet Brands, with popular Milk-Bone, Meow Mix, Natural Balance, Kibbles n’ Bits, 9Lives and
many more riding under the brand.
They had registered and are using BigHeartPet.com. That domain was registered 1/28/2014, so not long before announcing.
Universal City Studios
Has acquired the domain name Fear.net from Sony Pictures, along with several other “Fear” domains. FEARnet was bought out by Comcast and was a joint venture according to this article in
April 2014:
Some other domains that were transferred include, FearItself.com, Fear-TV.com, Fear247.net, several variations of “Fearful First Fiv”, FearHD.com, FearNet.com, Feartober.com etc.
Cheil Worldwide
Registered the domain name GiveLifeAHand.com on 7/24/2014. They are an advertising agency. Now Reckitt Benckiser (RB.com) has registered several variations of the term, like
GiveLifeHand.com, LifeAHand.com and Give-Life-A-Hand.com .
So RB likely hired Cheil to do some kind of campaign around the Give Life A Hand term in the near future.
ALDI Einkauf GmbH & Co. oHG
Registered the domain names ItsGoodToSwap.com and Its-Good-To-Swap.com . They also registered SwapAndSaveChallenge.com along with several hyphen variations. They also registered
Specially-Selected.com . SpeciallySelected.com is owned by BuyDomains and is currently listed for sale for $4,188.
The Howard Hughes Corporation
Registered the domain name TheNewLandmark.com
MTG.com
Has very likely been sold. The domain has had several changes via whois in 2014, so it is hard to pinpoint who owns it (for real). A “Bill Belliveau” was listed as the registrant for the
longest and prior to 2014. Rhonda Robbins came into the picture March 26, 2014 with [email protected] . Bill remained in the “admin contact”. 4/8/2014 McKenzie Telecommunicaions
Group appeared in whois. 6/26/2014 the domain goes into privacy. 8/4/2014 McKenzie Telecommunicaions Group and the email address [email protected]. 8/6/2014 the domain goes back to
generic whois data with CSC Corporate Domains, Inc.
Rhonda Robbins / Rhonda McKenzie are very likely the same person. The yahoo email address is tied to several “legal” domains and all point back to: Alex & Gaxiola, P.C.
(AlexAndAssociates.com)
What connection Alex & Gaxiola have with CSC is unknown.
Jockey
Acquired the domain name StayCool.com in April 2011 from “James Iles” aka Bruno Silva.
Unknown
Oago.com was acquired for a likely client of CSC Corporate Domains Inc.
CBS Studios
ZeroNilZero.com which was registered on 5/14/2014 and has generic whois data is very likely owned by CBS. ZeroNilZero.net was registered yesterday, to CBS.
50For50.com, which was owned by Miles Media Group, now belongs to CBS as well.
Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation
Registered two domains that made me scratch my head a little bit, and included VisitFargo.org and ExploreFargo.org . They do not own the .com’s of either domain.
VeriSign, Inc.
Has registered the domain name HoneyMayo.com. Makes me hungry! It also makes me wonder what they are going to do with a domain like this…
JP Morgan Chase
Has registered two domain names and those were BitcoinJPMorgan.com and ChaseDigitalPayments.com
Verizon Wireless
Has registered the domain name GlobalReadyChallenge.com
Amazon Technologies, Inc.
Has registered the domain name PayWithAmazonDemo.com
Viacom/ Defy Media/ Break Media/
AddictingAds.com has transferred ownership to Break Media. Well, the domain was owned by Atom Entertainment Inc.(subsidiary of Viacom) according to whois history records as of 7/12/2014.
Prior to that, Viacom was listed as the owners.
Based on an article from the WSJ on June 9, 2014 Viacom “took minority stake” in Defy Media http://blogs.wsj.com/cmo/2014/06/09/viacom-invests-in-defy-media/ . “As part of the deal, Defy
has agreed to acquire several of Viacom digital gaming assets, including Addicting Games, GameTrailers and Shockwave” DEFY Media, was formerly known as Alloy Digital and Break Media.
A lot of domain names in total have transfered ownrship to Break Media (which is really Defy Media, but why Defy Media still uses Break Media in Whois for “some domains” including the new
transfer of ownership of the domains listed below, I’m not sure). Some of these domains that I discovered include:
AddictingAnimation.com
AddictingMedia.com
AddictingTunes.com
BeachTowelBingo.com
CaptainKiddscaribbeanfreecell.com
CarnivalCatchKeno.com’
ChessRivals.com
ClubShockwave.com
FashionSpyDressForDanger.com
GameBlast.com
GiftsForGhosts.com
GrooveBlender.com
HeadsUpHoops.com
KidWaves.com
Mahjong-Dragon.com
MidwayMotu.com
MobileShockwave.com
MotorCycleTycoon2.com
MotoRush3.com
MotorRushWorld3.com
Nerdocracy.com
NerdOnline.com
PaparazziPoker.com
PhotoJam.net
RainforstSlots.com
RollercoasterSolitaire.com
SchockWave.com
ShockwaveKids.com
ShockwaveMinis.com
ShockwaveUnlimited.com
SideMission.com
SpidermonkeySolitaire.com
StylishGirl2.com (as well as 3 and 4)
SupstarFootball2.com
TripeaksSolitaireShangrila.com
WordRivals.com
Gamesys Ltd.
Has registered several relating domain names and some of those include ChatOVision.com / .net and the double hyphen versions of each.
CloudAdvisor.com
Has been acquired for an undisclosed client at CSC Cororate Domains for an undisclosed amount. The domain is/was listed for sale at Sedo for $5,000 but it likely didn’t sell at Sedo
because that listing is still active and this listing could have dated all the way back to early 2013…
CloudAdvisor.com did sell on Afternic in early January 2013 for $3,850. “Jose Vargas” and “[email protected]” has been listed as the registrant since early 2013.
Diamond Resorts Holdings, LLC
Registered the domain name VacationBetter.net . American Resort Development Association owns the .com and .org domains with the .com forwarding to a site built on VacationBetter.org .
Diamond Resorts is a “member” of the ARDA but makes you wonder who “owns” ARDA with this registration…
TripAdvisor LLC
Has purchased the domain name HotelPal.net for about $2K. This took place around June 25, 2014. They acquired HotelPal.org on the drop in August 2013. They also own the .biz and .us
domains and currently appear to not own the .com, which is owned by Voomba, Inc. according to whois records. I reached out to Voomba but haven’t heard back at the time of posting.
Microsoft
Has registered the two domain names CreatingYammer.com and .net. Microsoft acquired Yammer in 2012 for about $1.2 Billion and is a enterprise social network.
Kimberly-Clark Corporation
Has acquired HYH.com at Sedo. Alexa Properties LLC had owned the domain and then whois changed to Netico, Inc on 1/14/2014, which remained that way until “MARY FRANK” appeared in whois but
using a “[email protected]”. KCC.com is Kimberly-Clark Corporation.
It is hard to tell if the 1/14/2014 change to Netico, Inc is directly related to the sale currently or if KCC came into the picture recently. Netico is associated with a large amount of
domains, with a good sum of them being “short” like FuFe.com as an example, TJY.com etc.
Netico likely sold the domain to KCC and they just so happened to acquire it earlier this year.
Getty Images
Appears to have sold Blish.com or is selling it? The domain is listed on Sedo for $3,000 buy it now, but I’m not sure if CSC Corporate Domains listed the domain, Getty Images or if the
listing is an “old one”. The sellers info for Blish.com shows they are from Canada and have been a member since 2005-11.
Whois information simply switched from Getty Images to a generic CSC one and the domain switched name servers TO SedoParking.
Now that I’m doing more digging… It appears that Getty is selling off some of it’s domain assets. BuyPhoto.com appears to have just been listed for $5K, BuyPhotos.com $10K. IndexStock.com is another.
Green Smoke LLC (Altria)
Appears to have purchased the domain name CouponFools.com
Unknown
Domain name broker Sean Sullivan of DNSR.com has likely acquired the domain name ShadesAndMore.com for a client.
Sold Domains
CoinsBank.com (Sedo) $8,300
I’ve never been called Bruno Silva before! But Jockey did indeed acquire the name from me. Good to see they’ve finally put it to good use.
I looked to see why I put that James but I can’t seem to find it right now. I think I may have found something in the StayCool.com whois or maybe another domain you owned had that in whois or something along those lines.
