Here is the latest round of DotWeekly Discoveries powered by DomainIQ.com! In these interesting articles I scour thousands of newly registered domain names, domains moving registrars, domain name server changes, domains moving into privacy protection, registrant changes, hosting changes and much more. Then I take a peak at whois data and historical whois data to verify several things and come up with these lists. I focus on domain names that have been purchased, registered and are simply moving by large companies!
These discoveries often result into seeing new brands, products, services, company purchases and much, much more. Enjoy these early discoveries and I thank you for stopping in to read something unique and interesting!
Unknown
Thesis.com has been purchased by an unknown company currently for an unknown sales price. The domain currently has been transferred into MarkMonitor and holds the generic “Matt Serlin” whois data. The sellers were Faculty Lounge Partners which from my understand is Larry Fischer of DirectNavigation.com and Ari Goldberger from Esqwire.com . I had reached out to Ari to see if he could share some more on the domain sale but I haven’t heard back yet at time of posting. I wouldn’t expect that this domain would have sold very cheap!
UPMC
Registered the domain names RethinkConcussions.com and RethinkConcussion.com .
The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center is a $10 billion integrated global nonprofit health enterprise that has more than 62,000 employees, 21 hospitals with more than 5,100 licensed beds. They also own about 700 domain names.
Target Brands, Inc.
Registered the domain name TargetCardTheft.com . Something new? or just late to the game on the data breach?
Briggs & Stratton Corporation
Registered the domain name StowYourMower.com . With fall upon us, a lot of people will be “storing” lawn mowers for the season so maybe the motor maker is going to offer a little help with the right way to store it for the off season so it will start when it’s needed!
Allianz Group
Appears to be moving Fusion.com around in some fashion. The company was spun off in 2012 and Fusion Company was formed from Allianz Global Assistance as a separate entity with Allianz as an investor.
Well, the domain has changed registrars from NetNames to CSC Corporate Domains and also changed “registrants” from Fusion Company to Allianz Worldwide Partners SAS. So, basically the domain didn’t change ownership but it would appear that way in general. The website has pretty much stayed the same from what I can tell.
Eli Lilly and Company
Registered several domain names relating to “Dose” and “Insulin” like DosePal.com, DIYDosing.com, DosingGuide.com and AboutMyInsulin.com for an example.
CSC Brands LP. (Campbell Soup)
Registered the domain names FreshBrewedSoup.com and FreshBrewedSoups.com
Which purchased Bright Media for $120 Million in February 2014, has secured the generic domain name Bright.com which Bright Media owned. Nice domain! Maybe in the end, they purchased the company
Openlane, Inc.
Appears to have purchased the domain name VendorVision.com . The domain was listed for $5,000 so I would expect it sold for around that amount. The domain was registered in 1998 and the $5K was via GoDaddy, so the transaction likely took place else where. It appears the transaction at the end of August or early September 2014.
Pfizer Inc.
Registered the domain name GetThisOneDone.com
Intuit
Which acquired the company DocStoc, Inc. in December 2013 has transferred the main domain name DocStoc.com to show Intuit in whois data.
Not a huge list today but several nice generic domain names in the list! A couple domain registrations that will likely be used in advertising in some way (product packaging, TV, print, social media etc). It appears Pfizer has a thing for some unusual domain registrations. I believe they own some seven thousand domain names.
If you want to see some “unusual domain registrations” from companies, I can start posting those š but I try to stick to ones that make sense. Advertising = Sales! Large companies use all kinds of different domain names to connect with customers, clients, potential clients etc. Packaging, outside labels, products, billboards, business cards, print etc. Not all are just used for a “website”.
