The extended domain name auction from the NamesCon 2016 domain name conference ends today, January 21, 2016 on NameJet.com. You can view the full inventory here. Auctions start ending at 3 PM EST (2 PM Central) and will continue in a staggered fashion until about 5 PM EST (4 PM Central). Bidding is open to the public!
The live auction portion sold about $1.5 Million in domain name sales and about 30% did not reach reserve price, so those domain names were put into the extended auction. Those domain names join many other great domain names that could not fit into the live auction portion. So, about 300 domain names total are in the extended auction.
Some of my picks
Here are some of the domain names that I like for one reason or another and want to point out!
At.com at the time of posting, At.com is 1 bid away from reaching reserve. With the current high bid of $1,503,000 meaning $1,504,000 unlocks the reserve and the domain will sell! 2 letter .com’s are rare (only 676 of them) and 2 letter words are even more rare! Great investment at the minimum and a great chance for a corporation to step up to a big brand domain upgrade or a chance for start-up to secure a valuable asset! Even at, $1,504,000 that is less expensive than many LL .com domains I have seen sell fairly recently! FB.com at $8.5 Million comes to mind, IG.com @ $4.7 Million, YP.com at $3.8 Million and MI.com at $3.6 Million to mention a few of the many! FW.com, BY.com and WI.com are your 3 other 2 letter .com domain name options in the auction. FW.com is closest to reserve at the time of posting besides At.com.
Supplies.com I like because a huge brand can be built around it! Actually, National Building Supply just did this with Supply.com as laid out in this article recently on NamePros. Current bid is a little over $100K, but we are talking a brand here and Supplies.com is a great domain name to build a brand around for an online source for all kinds of supplies!
Accelerate.com This domain name screams a brand name! Fast, quick, increase! Those are many terms that companies often like to push relating to its products and Accelerate.com is a great fit! Fitness, performance, training and more are a few things that come to mind that can easily relate to the term.
GoodyBags.com This No Reserve domain name that currently at posting is $2,600 is a steal! Goody Bags are handed out all the time at kids birthday parties, corporate events and more! I think the market is good for a Goody Bag service to offer pre-made Goody Bags for events!
Diane.com is an extremely popular given name! If your name is Diane and you are serious about your brand, Diane.com is the only Diane.com in the world! There are currently 9,368 .com domain names actively registered currently that simply start with the term Diane! Great investment opportunity!
Fitness.club there are so many of them! .club is one of the most popular new gTLD extensions.
Waterfront.property This clear and make sense new gTLD simply explains itself and would have plenty of inventory to list globally or locally! No Reserve
BikeMessenger.com The Uber of bike messaging!!! Amazon uses them for many deliveries. A lot of potential in this world of “I want it now” and some of that delivery is done by a Bike Messenger! Reserve is under $1,800 and well worth it IMO!
TreatingDepression.com This is the type of domain name that large corporations purchase to use in advertising! They often have budgets in the $8K-$25K (and higher) to secure these make sense type of domains. Current bid on this No Reserve domain name is $490
SelfiePhotos.com Oh, only about the biggest craze there is! Selfie photos are done by just about everybody with a phone today! Figure out a unique way to monetize it and you hold the perfect domain for it! No Reserve and current bid is $410
SharedCar.com No Reserve! This may be the sleeper in the auction! Car sharing is getting big (it’s early). GM just announced a new car sharing program they are running under the brand name Maven (without owning the EMD) as announced on TechCrunch.com today! Current bid price on this little beauty is $340! Yes, the big names get a lot of attention, but again.. this could be a sleeper in the auction on a soon to grow service!
Honorable mentions… There are several 3 letter .com word domain names in the auction that include: Sub.com, Won.com, Row.com, and Ned.com that are all really great domain names!
There are many other domain names like 4 letter, one word and two-word keyword and brandable domain names in the auction. 3 number .com domains, single letter gTLD and more! Take a few minutes and browse the inventory before they are gone! Nearly 50% in the extended auction have met reserve and will sell, so don’t miss out! Proxy bids are welcome if you are not able to be around when the domain auction closes!
