Not the biggest list I have provided in my company domain movers from large companies that have registered, purchased or moved domain names lately but not all the much activity happens on the weekend, so things will pick back up! Mattel Inc.
Decided to pull it’s fairly popular website EverythingGirl.com which had 998 indexed pages on Google alone and the domain name now forwards to Barbie.com . At least they did a forward with the domain as I have seen companies just stop using the domain in general and not have it resolve.
AirBNB
Has finally acquired BelongAnywhere.com, a domain term that I have reported on several times lately. First on July 10th then again on July 16th and between those times I have seen AirBNB register or acquire A LOT of other domains in other TLD’s.
Hopefully whoever registered the .com on April 21, 2014 had run into at least one of my stories but they very likely were aware what was going on in some way simply by the registration.
One interesting thing I had seen, before the domain switched to MarkMonitor name servers, the domain was on the name servers of: orderbox-dns.com which are owned by PublicDomainRegistry.com . The domain is registered with them now, which is a crazy because either DomainTools didn’t do a good job tracking data… as the domain shows it has only been with 1 registrar. The domain was registered at GoDaddy, is now with PDR and will be heading to MarkMonitor when it’s eliable for transfer.
Name Servers were active on this one in it’s short life, starting with DomainControl.com, then moving to DSREDIRECTION.COM, then to Name.com, then to Orderbox-dns.com and now to MarkMonitor.com

Registered the domain LustNeed.com . They registered LustMustNeed.com the other day as well.
SilkRoad Technology, Inc.
Registered the domain names RedCarpetSoftware.com and RedCarpetTechnology.com
DTCC (dtcc.com)
Registered the domain name T2Settlement.com and Ust2.com
Twitter Inc. (very likely as whois is CSC generic)
Twitter is back once again with several domain registrations that include:

Momentsia is an app from Madbits, and maybe Twitter purchased Madbits? I couldn’t find much currently.
Suresh Joachim International Inc
Very likely purchased the domain name WorldSuperhero.com . From what I can tell, the domain was listed for $588.
Overstock.com
Purchased the domain name OExpress.com from BuyDomains.com via Sedo.com .
Curvature (Formally Network Hardware Resale)
Is completing a large re-brand to Curvature.com, a domain name they purchased from Telepathy, via Marksmen via MarkMonitor. According to whois history records, Curvature.com was purchased on or about 1/2/2014 when “Cyntia King” was displayed in whois with Marksmen Inc. By 1/5/2014 “DNStination Inc.” and “Matt Serlin” was displayed in whois.
Several other “Curvature” domains were also purchased or registered at or near the time, with CurvatureNetworks.com, CurvatureMaintenance.com, Curvature.tv, CurvatureServices.com
All of these domains have been sitting with “DnStination Inc” in whois, which is basically MarkMonitors in-house whois privacy but have recently started to display who the client was behind the domains.
In General
I do run into a lot of “unreported” domain sales during my digging that very likely take place but I often do not share them here, as large companies are not behind the purchase, or at least as far as I can tell. I often can not find the sales price either, so again that is often another negative and I end up simply not sharing the data at all. I know people like to see a “sales price” with a domain, but really… it’ sad that people put so much attention to the price, other than the domain / category of the domain.
So, I might start sharing a few of these sales that I think the domains are interesting at the bottom of these articles. Would you like to see these?
CryptoStore.com for an example very likely sold recently but likely would go undiscovered that it even sold.
Jamie, I guess if you can connect companies buying domain names with certain keywords and domain investors who hold similar domain names, you might have a means of monetizing your research.
That is something I have been working on Leonard, but it also becomes a challenge in providing the domain inventory related. That would be something I would need to research more and see what it would take to provide the most relevant. People can be hard to get a hold of, don’t want to see or even offer for sale etc. so it can be a challenge.

TechCrunch has confirmed that Twitter purchased MadBits.
It’s funny reading TC’s article because they posted the story on 7/30/2014 in the morning. They link Gigaom as “first spotting it” with a post on 7/29/2014 but really… DotWeekly readers had the first insight, because you saw it here on 7/28/2014!
