Paypal is in the process of rebranding its Bill Me Later® brand to Paypal Credit®. Makes sense to me, I like the Paypal Credit name because it sounds nice and it ties the service directly to the Paypal brand.
Paypal / eBay = HUGE company. Tech Company. Tons of employees. Smart people. They know what cName and A records are, most do not.
This brings up the valid question, did anybody from Paypal, its tech team etc. try to visit: paypalcredit.com directly in a web browser? No, not likely or they would have fixed the issue.
I do not type www., nor do I type http://www. when I got to a website. I simply type the domain name and hit enter. It takes time and more keystrokes and I really shouldn’t have to type or say www. when talking about domains or visiting them, It’s 2014!
If you do type hyphens into domain names naturally, well, then you are in luck! Paypal-Credit.com resolves perfectly fine no matter how you type the domain name with or without www. . www.PaypalCredit.com and www.Paypal-Credit.com are different sites. Paypal is putting a focus on PaypalCredit.com (as they should) because that is the domain used on the BillMeLater.com site that is informing users of the name change.
Simply SEEEING PaypalCredit.com can make you want to type in PaypalCredit.com into your browser.. in lies the problem, PaypalCredit.com doesn’t resolve / work.
cName and or A records help. One could also redirect www.domainname.com to domainname.com and the other way around.
Tip: Always visit your website directly. Visit it in different methods, like typing www.domainname.com and domainname.com . Visit your website in different browsers etc. Small errors can confuse potential visitors and lead to missed business.
Why wouldn’t we wanna work with wonky www. while waiting?
This is just sad. Seriously.
I remember this issues being very common decades ago and I shake my head when I see smaller sites have this issue, but you’d think Paypal would have that bit covered.
