Here is another Domain Movers series that I had in my data pile and figured I would post it to the world instead of just letting the data sit around on my computer.
The following data is related to corporate domain name movements, which almost always goes unpublished unless somebody digs the data.
AstraZeneca AB has acquired the domain name LVNG.com which was parked at Sedo and used Sedo’s transfer service. The domain has been registered since January 27, 2004 and was owned by a Greg Doumanian.
General Motors LLC appears to have acquired the domain name CityOne.com, which was under whois privacy at GoDaddy prior but has since transferred to CSC Corporate Domains and displaying GM as the owners.
BenefitMall has acquired the domain name PeopleFocus.com which was owned by Mediablue Inc prior and has been registered since May 14, 1999 and was using DomainNameSales.com at the time of the transaction.
A-Z.com has changed ownership according to whois records. The domain name was owned by Dipcon AB of Sweden and now is showing ownership by Varner Retail. This domain screams Amazon, due to its “everything from A-Z logo) so a little surprised they didn’t buy it
Reed Exhibitions Deutschland GmbH have acquired the domain name Fibo.com and are redirecting the domain name to Fibo.de. The domain name was owned by Deniz Aytekin according to whois history and was listed for sale on a stand alone for sale page.
Art.com, Inc. has acquired the domain name FrameYourArt.com from GoDaddy.com/Marchex portfolio. I would just use a sub-domain and saved some $$.
Quotient.com has been acquired by Coupons.com
DeLaval International AB registered WeLiveMilk.com
Capita plc registered PurpleTrader.com
Kraft Foods Group Brands LLC registered KraftHeinzProjectPlay.com
Target Brands, Inc. registered MadeByDesignTarget.com
The Absolut Company registered AbsolutHouseParty.com
ABC Inc. / Disney has acquired the domain name FreeForm.com from a AccessEforms, LP according to whois records, which is a forms management service. The domain name has been registered since May 22, 1997.
To add to the .com domain, ABC also acquired FreeForm.net from BuyDomains.com which had a listing price of $2,388 and has been registered since May 28, 2002.
Why did they do this? A rebranding effort for ABC Family, which will be rebranded to Freeform starting in January 2016.
Variety.com and a slew of other websites reported the rebranding on October 6, 2015 and that was the day prior ABC took ownership of the domain name Freeform.com on October 7, 2015 when it transferred to CSC Corporate domains according to whois records. It normally takes about 5 days to transfer a domain name between two registrar, which would mean the transaction may have taken place about October 2, 2015. Freeform.com redirects to the sub-domain name abcfamily.go.com
Microsoft Corporation has moved the domain name Kumo.com to Hostgator hosting. This is not something I see from the company… so something is up with it. It was moved onto an IP address that holds Kumo .ca .ch .cl co.in .co.in .co.kr and a few other Microsoft owned domains like BingSearch.co.za and BingSearch.com.br
There is a logo and login page upon visiting Kumo.com but nothing else.
In 2009, Microsoft announced Kumo, which was a rebrand of its “Live Search”. A screenshot in that 2009 article, looks very similar to Bing today. Microsoft has allowed the search engine software Kumo trademark to lapse but several Kumo trademarks exists by others, but I didn’t see any new or recent filings.
The domain name is still on Hostgator hosting but whois is now showing Launchpad.com, Inc as the owners of the domain name, so it appears Microsoft has sold Kumo.com. The website resolves, but is broken for me.
Blim.com has been sold by Frank Schillings Name Administration Inc. The domain name had a listing price of $78,000 and has moved to hosting but a site doesn’t resolve yet. MOUNTRIGI MANAGEMENT GROUP, LTD. were the buyers according to whois records.
Hasbro has registered the domain name MyLittlePonyTheMovie.com
Reddit Inc. has launched a new standalone website called Upvoted.com. The domain name came out of privacy protect from 1&1 and transferred to Gandi SAS on April Fools day, 2015!
Since the domain name came out of privacy protection, it makes it harder to tell if they owned it while under privacy protection or not. The domain has been under privacy protection since around when it was created on July 9, 2007. When did Reddit acquire it is the question.
Kraft Heinz Foods Company has officially taken control of KraftHeinz.com which it won in a UDRP.
Uber Technologies, Inc. has acquired the domain name UberRush.com. The domain was registered on April 7, 2014 by Lin Zongxing of China.
ABC, Inc. registered the domain name DigitHound.com adding to the 16,000+ domain name portfolio owned by the company.
Ebay Inc. registered the domain name LetYourFanOut.com then 3 days later registered the .net, .org, .info, .biz and .us domain names.
Amazon Technologies, Inc. registered the domain name SecurityCertifier.com
Thomson Reuters Holdings Inc., owners of MarkMonitor, have listed the domain name Atfi.com for sale, which has been registered since February 22, 1996. The domain name has a for sale lander on it. They have also done the same on Hypo.com.
Blim, Kumo, Fipo … these aren’t “Chinese premiums”! They should have sold for $200 – $350 right? RIGHT???
If that! 🙂
And it looks like Hypo.com is already sold…
