Here we go with the latest movers from large companies and the domain names they recently purchased or registered and some info along with each if I was able to find something. These article are fun to make and share, so I hope you keep enjoying them as much as I like sharing!
Nokia Corporation
This shouldn’t come as any surprise from any “tech” type company, but Nokia registered the domain names NokiaWear.com .net/.org . Clearly wearables is becoming “the” products to be pushing
to market right now and many companies are racing to do so.
Something that is a little surprising, is the fact that Nokia owns about less than 1,000 domain names. A company the size of Nokia often owns a lot more than that. Of the about 1,000
domains, they are mainly average random terms likely relating to some product or service they offer but Here.com and Here.net were really the only generic domains I see they own.
Here.com is the mapping service they own.
Diageo Plc
Registered the domain name LikeACaptain.com
Diageo plc is a British multinational alcoholic beverages company headquartered in London, England. It is the world’s largest producer of spirits and a major producer of beer and wine.
They own the very popular “Captain Morgan” brand along with many more Like Guinness, Smirnoff, Baileys, Crown Royal and Johnnie Walker.
They also registered the domain name PieholeWhisky.com, which may be related to a new upcoming brand?
Diageo owns about 4,000 domain names
Intertek Group plc
Very likely purchased the domain name TrueCert.com from HugeDomains.com . The domain was listed for $1,695 and was the likely sales price.
Intertek Group plc is a multinational inspection, product testing and certification company headquartered in London, United Kingdom.
PepsiCo, Inc
Hand registered the domain name BowlForTheSuperBowl.com for a likely upcoming campaign of some sort.
ConocoPhillips Company
Registered the domain name CopOnCloud.com and CopOnCloud.net . No clue!
T-Mobile USA, Inc.
Registered the domain names, TheUnApp.com, TheUn-App.com and Un-App.com . They do not currently own UnApp.com but I’m sure they wish they did.
T-Mobile also revealed they were behind several domain names that were sitting on basic MarkMonitor whois data. Those domains include:
familyconnectwireless.com
familyessentialsmobile.com
familyessentialsonline.com
familyessentialswireless.com
familylinkwireless.com
familyoneonline.com
familyonewireless.com
familyselectmobile.com
familyselectonline.com
familyselectwireless.com
RPC.com
Sold at Sedo.com . DigitalScape, LLC was the past owner and had the domain parked on Sedo servers prior to selling. The new buyer is Paul Kocher according to whois records. I have reached
out to both parties to see if they are willing to share any details on or about the purchase / sale. I have yet to hear from either.
Medtronics Inc
Very likely purchased the domain name EverydayFreedom.com from HugeDomains.com at Sedo. The purchase appears to have taken place about 5/1/2014 and MarkMonitor was the acting buyer on
behalf of Medtronic. I didn’t see a publicly listed sales price on this one. (Update 7/23/2014: EverydayFreedom.com sold for $1,595)
Medtronic has a site built on the domain name Everyday-Freedom.com and was the likely reason behind the purchase as it forward to it. So if you need some bladder control therapy, check it out!
