Company Domain Movers: mPlatform.com, BroadCity.com + More

mPlatform.com

Welcome to Domain Movers. We keep track of company domain name transactions and report these early findings to you. This information is often very early and gives insight into activity relating to new brands, future advertising and marketing efforts, domain upgrades and much more. The following is a very small sampling of daily activity.

MummyDog.com which I mentioned yesterday that was acquired but whois was generic, has updated to General Mills as the buyers.

Carrot.co which I also mentioned earlier that was acquired by Marksmen for an unknown buyer at the time, was acquired by Carrot Sense.

GoDaddy sold Hardway.com and HillValley.com out of its NameFind portfolio to end users.

Shanghai Ctrip Commerce Co., Ltd. acquired BookTrip.com via Afternic, also from GoDaddy’s NameFind.

Ecom Capital Partners acquired CustomAudience.com via Afternic from its past owners. The domain held an offering price of $3,288.

Amazon Technologies registered a bunch of Alexa Connected Speakers, Alexa Multi Room Audio and Alexa Synchronized Audio domains. Several also contained “Echo” in replace of Alexa. A few were: AlexaSynchronized.com, AlexaMultiroom.com, AlexaAudioSDK.com, EchoMultiroomMusic.com and AlexaConnectedSpeaker.com. This was in relation to a newly announced offering.

Sony registered PlayShowGame.com and PlayShowLive.com adding to the 10,000 other domain names they own.

GenevaCap.com was acquired by Henderson Global Investors Limited from its past owners.

Xaxis has acquired mPlatform.com, with the transaction taking place at Sedo in March 2017. GroupM announced [m]Platform in November 2016. mPlatform.com has been registered since 2002.

DumpTrailers.com has been acquired by Adventure Capital Investments, LLC from Frank Schillings Name Administration Inc. I would expect this to be a $25K+ domain sale but I wasn’t able to find the sales price.

1-800-FLOWERS.COM, INC. registered several KettleKrave.com domain names, likely for a brand name Kettle Krave. They did NOT register the more common spelling, KettleCrave.com for brand protection as they should have. The domains registered were: Kettle-Krave.com, Kettle-Kraves.com, KettleKrave.com, .net, .org, KettleKrave.co, KettleKraves.com, wKettleKrave.com, wwKettleKrave.com and wwwKettleKrave.com

DP.com, WG.com and FK.com all have transferred from eName to GoDaddy.com and switched to Bodis.com domain name parking. These domain names have potentially changed ownership.

Microsoft Corporation has acquired TodayInTechnology.com from its past owners. They also registered TodayInTechnology.net, .info and .org.

Viacom / Comedy Central has acquired BroadCity.com from its past owners. The domain name was for sale using the Uniregistry system. They have been on a domain name buying spree lately, also acquiring Standup.com and others.

Jo-Ann Stores, LLC which own Joann.com as its main domain name, switched name servers and likely hosting from AT&T over to Akamai Technologies.

Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd have acquired PocketJobs.com from its past owner.

ArmorNow.com has been acquired by a currently unknown CSC Corporate Domains client. The domain was for sale using the Uniregistry system.

The J.M. Smuchker Company registered the domain name BoldOfficeCoffee.com

PepsiCo, Inc. registered the domain names PepsiAllstar.com, PepsiSnapForCash.com and PepsiTunes.com

Petco Animal Supplies Stores, Inc. interestingly registered PetcoSnaps.com on the same day.

In other news, we see 3 domain name veterans launch a new corporate domain name offering called Brandsight.com! (Yes, they own the sounds like Brandsite.com domain also) Congrats to Matt Serlin and Elisa Cooper, formally of MarkMonitor and CEO Phil Lodico who was a managing partner with Fairwinds Partners prior. Currently CSC and MarkMonitor are the two largest domain name companies providing services to manage domain name assets for many of the largest companies in the world.

I think one important thing that Brandsight is offering that CSC and MarkMonitor do not, sole dedication to domain names. Brandsight is focused on domain names and the management of them. CSC and MarkMonitor offer domain management but not a core service and more as an add-on to the other services they offer. I expect Brandsight to grow its client base rapidly and become a trusted source for companies around the world to manage important domain name assets.
