Based on whois data, the former Siemens Enterprise Communications which was rebranded to Unify in late 2013 has purchased the domain name Circuit.com .
A little recent history:
Circuit.com was long owned by NetTuner Corp until what appears to be a sale of the domain that took place about December 20, 2012 and maybe financed through Domain Capital or DC assisted in the purchase in some way because they appear in whois. Domain Capital remained as the registrant from only 12/20/2012 until 1/02/2013 when F Reichling was displayed in whois records with a [email protected] email address.
F Reichling appears to be a domain name investor based on other domains owned (France.org, Rings.net, FanClub.com and more) and the patterns used with them, mainly parking the domains with different providers. Circuit.com followed this same path with using ParkingCrew.com and then moving to InternetTraffic.com parking services.
A 7/11/2013 whois record indicates the domain name going to whois privacy protection and the DNS also changed away from InternetTraffic.com to a standard GoDaddy DNS. This indicates to me that a sale may have taken place at this time!
April 2014 the domain changed domain name servers to Amazon hosting and remained this way until 1/7/2015. No website was displayed during this time.
On January 8, 2015 Circuit.com displays a Christopher Kanuck of Pennsylvania in whois records. This appears to be a new domain investor? or Christopher was the buyer on or about 7/11/2013 when privacy protection is added?
On January 10, 2015 Circuit.com takes a virtual trip from GoDaddy.com to a new domain name registrar, NetNames and displays new ownership in Siemens Enterprise Communications GmbH und Co. KG. (Unify’s old name)
Short recap: NetTuner Corp TO Domain Capital TO F Reichling TO Privacy Protection TO Christopher Kanuck TO Siemens/Unify. That is a total of 6 potential different owners from 12/20/2012 to 1/10/2015, which is pretty interesting. Also considering each person that owned it recently, owned it for a short amount of time, with Christopher only owning it according to whois records for a day or two.
I have reached out to Christopher to see if he is able to share any further details and will update here if I hear back. At this time, I was not able to discover the purchase price for Circuit.com that Unify paid. In general, I think some of the recent whois changes (ownership) may have been connected to Unify. For some reason, that 7/11/2013 privacy change is a date that sticks out to me, mainly because they rebranded to Unify in October 2013. Just speculation on my part but Christopher would likely be able to clear that up. If Christopher did happen to purchase the domain on the 8th and doesn’t have any connection with Unify, and sold Circuit.com in the one or two days he owned it… that is an interesting story itself!
