Mark Monitor Lists Phishing.com Domain For Sale

This morning I had discovered something that I found a little interesting, a domain for sale lander on Phishing.com . The domain name is under control by domain name registrar Mark Monitor with the generic whois data of “Matt Serlin” and DNStination Inc.  which is often the name used when the company buys a domain for a client.

Phishing.com was a simple parked page with Bodis.com, prior to changing to the current Mark Monitor landing page in the screenshot below.

Why is this interesting?

I didn’t know that Mark Monitor even used “domain for sale” lander’s and secondly… it’s not all that often that a Mark Monitor client offers there domain for sale.

What does the domain for sale page look like?

Nothing special really, but I always like to DEEPLY look at what they use. The wording IMO is interesting, because it heavily points to the domain being For Sale IMO, as many large domain owners will never use the wording “for sale” on a lander. Often times, it is a simple line of “Inquire”, which is generic enough to gauge whatever interest one my have.

Phishing.com was first created on March 24, 1998 and has been with 5 different registrar through its life time.

What is Phishing? Phishing is the attempt to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details (and sometimes, indirectly, money) by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication according to Wikipedia.org.
