It’s hard to come up with a title for these articles, because I write them all the time…. they are domain names that are registered and purchased by large companies… so I often write: Company Domain Name Movers by Blah Blah company and more.. or Corporate domain names etc. Who cares really (my mood today)
In today’s list, I include domain names I normally do not! Enjoy the Target Domains, which you will see with-in the article.
Here is the list of domain discoveries of domains recently acquired by large companies:
Unknown
A currently unknown MarkMonitor client has grabbed the domain name BeMeaningful.com on the drop. The domain appears to have been grabbed by a Network Solutions registrar from what I can tell due to current Worldnic.com name servers.
N.V. Nutricia
Has registered the domain name Nutrimom.net and Nutrimom.us on 9/11/2014. It doesn’t appear they own Nutrimom.com at this time and is a likely target.
California Voices / QVC
Appears to have acquired the domain name Grouply.com from a Oodle, Inc. The changes happened about May 7, 2014 but I just noticed it now. Doing a little further digging and California Voices operates Oodle.com. QVC, Inc. has acquried California Voices according to the about pages on Oodle.
One Technologies
Has registered the domain name ScoreFinder.us . The domain ScoreFinder.com is for sale for $20K and is a potential target.
Fusion Media Networks, LLC
Registered the domain name SoccerGods.net . The domain name SoccerGods.com is for sale via BuyDomains.com for $1,888 and is a potential target.
Bristol-Myers Squibb Company
Has purchased the domain name StoriesOfLife.com from BuyDomains.com for about $4,388. The transaction likely took place in early August 2014.
Atlantic Records / Simple Plan Inc.
Allowed the domain name SimplePlan.com to expire briefly. The domain expired on 9/11/2014 and by 9/15/2014 the domain name servers were changed on the domain, which took down the website.
The domain was renewed a short time later and the site is now active again.
Playboy Enterprises International, Inc.
Registered several domain names with the term After Dark + Keyword. Domains like AfterDarkBrand.com, AfterDarkBeauty.com, AfterDarkClothes.com, AfterDarkProducts.com, AfterDarkMan.com,
AfterDarkShop.com, AfterDarkGoods.com, AfterDarkChic.com, Style, Trend and Woman for an example. They do not own the domain AfterDark.com, as it’s owned by Activision Publishing, Inc., the
video game maker.
GEO Movers
Ohio.com which is owned by AKRON BEACON JOURNAL packed up its bags and moved out of Neustar and moved to Dynect for hosting.
Daytona.net which is owned by Epium, the domain resolved to Casino.net’s page for a long time and now is on a generic lander for domain registrar SafeNames.
Twitter Inc.
Has registered the domain name HashLogo.com on August 28, 2014. They also filed a trademark for the term.
Twitter also filed a trademark for “Twitter Flight”, which is a mobile developer conference which is going to be held October 22, 2014 and they are using the domain TwitterFlight.com for that. They registered the domain in 2009.
Apple / Catch
Apple purchased the Catch.com note taking app sometime around July 2013 and it was stated on the website that they would be shutting down August 30, 2014. That has taken place and now Catch.com does not resolve, but Catch.com is also a nice generic domain name now owned (very likely at least) by Apple even though it doesn’t show that in whois currently. Catch.com Inc was removed from whois on or about April 7, 2014 and now displays generic CSC Corporate Domains, Inc in whois.
Apple also appears to be canceling the Catch trademark.
Unknown
A currently unknown CSC client has acquired the domain name ThatsGold.com . The domain was parked with Sedo and is registered at GoDaddy.
Another currently unknown CSC client has also acquired the domain name WebsiteSettings.com
Novell, Inc.
Registered the domain name CertifiedInstructor.net and the domain CertifiedInstructor.com is currently for sale at BuyDomains for $3,788 and is a potential target.
Google Inc.
Has taken control over the domain name ClubSongza.com, a music streaming site they purchased for around $39 Million in early 2014. Songza.com transferred to Google around September 3,
2014.
Kellogg Company
Has obtained the domain name CocoPops.com on or about September 3, 2014 from a Wachter Consulting Inc. who has owned the domain name since around May 2005. Kellogg introduced the Coco Pops
cereal in the UK in 1961. Coco Krispies is also a name for the cereal, which was introduced in the US in 1958.
It is hard to say if this domain was obtained “legally” or “sold”. The domain was parked in 2008 and displayed “cereal”, which would be enough IMO to obtain the domain legally. Starting in
at least 2010 displaying a silver dollar coin. MarkMonitor assisted in obtaining the domain.
Viacom International Inc.
Has registered the domain name LifeVictorious.net and according to whois does not currently own LifeVictorious.com and is a potential target.
Hasbro, Inc.
Has registered the domain name ToyBoxTools.com maybe for a current toy or a future toy.
Unknown
A currently unknown MarkMonitor client has acquired the domain name WhisperReach.com. The domain was registered at GoDaddy since September 23, 2011 under privacy protection and has
remained that was since. It is hard to say if the registration was by the currently unknown MarkMonitor client.
I see dotNET is still ROCKS 🙂
Note regarding the registration of .Net or other non-.COM domain names by companies – sometimes they secure the .Net first just in case they are unable to negotiate an acceptable price on the .COM. I have been approached before as the owner of the .COM and noticed that the potential buyer had recently registered the .Net.
How about basing the article titles around a few of the domains or companies discussed?
Might work as a teaser.
Might entail SEO benefits.
Would certainly eliminate repetition and give you plenty of options for a simple choice.
