Here are a couple corporate domain name movers of domains that have been recently acquired or registered that most likely would go unreported otherwise. Not a huge list today but that happens sometimes.
Architeuthis (CodeBug.com) has registered the domain name MoneyTool.net. They have owned MoneyTool.org since 2011 but currently do not own MoneyTool.com but the domain is listed for sale.
Bayer AG registered several new domain names for its Claritin brand and some of those were ClaritinSkies.com, BlueSkiesLiving.com, ClaritinClearSkies.com, ClaritinClearSky.com, ClaritinLiving.com and ClaritinLivingClear.com for an example. LivingClear.com was transferred in from Merck.com, and that was because Bayer AG had purchased Merck’s consumer care business for $14 Billion in October 2014.
Target Brands, Inc. had announced some layoffs recently and they must have felt they needed some domain name for this and registered TargetLayoff.com, TargetLayoff2015.com, TargetLayoffs2015.com, TargetStoreLayoffs.com, TargetStoreLayoff.com, Target-Layoff.com and Target-Layoffs.com.
Fastenal Company, who only owns only about 20 domain names has made two big generic domain name purchases!
Fastener.com a domain name that has been registered since 1997 and was owned by domain investor Garry Chernoff of NetIncome Ventures Inc was purchased on or about 1/23/2015 for an undisclosed amount.
Fittings.com another domain registered since 1997 and also owned by Garry Chernoff was also purchased by Fastenal about the same time as Fastener.com. Both domain names were parked with DomainNameSales.com.
FlexMile.com has been acquired for a currently unknown MarkMonitor client.
Really much appreciated, these secret investigations to find out who is buying great generic domains is one of the more useful thing for the industry.
Thank you.
PS It would be necessary to build a public database with all those generic domain buyers divided by categories etc.
I am sure you could have subscribers who agree to pay to access such database
