Welcome to another round of DotWeekly Domain Discoveries of domain names on the move, purchased and newly registered by large companies. Today has a large mix of different movers by several different companies. Here we go with the latest:
Groupon
Hand registered several “Snap” related domain names like: SnapByGroupon.com, SnapGroupon.com and GrouponSnap.com . Likely a new service offered by Groupon.
1-800-Flowers.com
Appears to have purchased the domain name WellSent.com from HugeDomains. The domain was listed for $1,595. They also did a DNS move for another brand they own, WineTasting.com but I couldn’t see much change with it.
The Bank of New York Mellon
Moved a bunch of domain names… and in the process I had seen ABD.com, a domain that is marked For Sale, via the Admin Contact in whois. Not that often these companies sell there domain assets, so that is why I found it interesting. Speaking of moving, they are also relocating headquarters as well to Brookfield Place.
Transamerica
Appears to have purchased the domain name HaveAPlan.com at BuyDomains and is using the domain as a marketing campaign to share “ecards” about life insurance and using the hashtag #HaveAPlan
The “director of social media strategy for Transamerica” is listed as the domain owner in whois, which is interesting in its own right (if Transamerica really owns the domain, it should be them, not an employee)…. His Linkedin page is interesting: http://www.linkedin.com/in/allangungormez
I was not able to find a sales price for the domain… but I really wanted to!!! After some deep, deep trick digging… I was able to see HaveAPlan.com was listed for $7,688 but I am unsure if that is what it sold for!
Chivas Holdings (IP) Limited
Very likely purchased the domain name TheVenture.com from MDNH Inc. (Marchex). The domain was listed for sale at $50,000 but I wasn’t able to find a “publicly reported sale price” at time of posting this.
Eli Lilly & Company
Hand registered the domain name UsingYourVoice.com
AUSTRALIAN BRUSHWARE CORPORATION PTY LTD
Hand registered the domain name ManageMyDIY.com
iWin Inc.
Likely will be doing something with the domain name Blaze.com which they own (I’m sure Glen Beck would like to own the domain, as he uses “TheBlaze.com”). iWin had simply forwarded the domain name to iPlay.com but they have moved Blaze.com to a dedicated server… so this tells me they likely have a better plan for the domain other than a redirect. Likely a new game of some sorts, since they are a gaming company.
Groupon bought a company called SnapSaves a couple weeks ago
They were a Canadian Grocery App
It’s an App for Grocery Receipts amongst other things from what I read
