Here is some recent activity relating to domain names that large corporations have recently purchased, registered or on the move for one reason or another:
DiehardFan.com was acquired by Nissan, who used design agency Critical Mass for a “diehard fan app”. Critical Mass actually acquired the domain name on behalf of Nissan.
Shire has acquired the domain name ShortBowelSyndrome.com for an undisclosed amount. The domain name was owned by Blue Nova Inc. according to whois history. Blue Nova may be new to some, but they were Vertical Axis prior. Shire is a publicly traded biopharmaceutical company.
NBC briefly let the domain name USF.com expire, which is registered at Network Solutions. The majority of NBC’s domains are registered with MarkMonitor. The domain name once again redirects to UniversalOrlando.com
Viacom International Inc. has registered several domain names relating to a MTV branded Hotel and Resort. Some of the domains are: MTVResorts.com, MTVResortMexico.com, MTVHotelAndResort.com and MTVResortPlayaDelCarmen.com
Medse.com has been purchased from HugeDomains for about $2,895 by a currently unknown client of corporate brand protection service MarkMonitor.
Nyheter 24 AB has acquired the domain name LeftSideOfTheBrain.com for about $899
HSE.com sold at Sedo for $30,000 on July 28, 2016. It also sold on Sedo on April 8, 2015 but for $34,000. Also at Sedo, Frank Schilling’s Name Administration Inc sold the domain Paby.com. I was not able to find a sales price on that one currently.
Mozilla Corporation registered several “Equal Rating” innovation prize/challenge domain names. One of those was EqualRating.com
FX Networks, LLC registered the domain name MeetLegion.com and a currently unknown MarkMonitor client registered MedallionClass.com
Walmart spent about $3 Billion and acquired the business of Jet.com and also registered the domain Walmart-Jet.com on 8/8/2016. The non-hyphen version was registered on 8/3/2016, but is under privacy at eNom and was likely not done by Walmart or Jet. Both domains are completely useless IMO.
Hello Jamie,
All New TLDs have a huge disadvantage. Its called Google Ad Sense Marketing.
You will find that 99% of all Google Ad Marketing Agencies are Clueless about the superior Marketing Strategies that All .COM Profit Centers embody. They got it wrong thirty years ago and continue their flawed Marketing Strategies to this day.
They still don’t get that they lose their clients valuable Rustled Traffic within the Google Traffic Rustling Maze. Actually losing as much Traffic as they gain in the Google Ad System. Utterly Amazing to us that this is still being used by most Uneducated Online Advertising Agencies.
If their Online website owners knew the truth of the matter, they would be Furious.
There are two recipes for Online Business Failures:
1. NOT owning a .COM Profit Center
2. Using Google Adsense Marketing

Although there may be a Daniel Levi who is general counsel for Critical Mass, you’ve got the wrong guy. This Daniel Levi is a domainer whom I know pretty well.
What are the chances Joseph! I have updated the article. Thanks for pointing it out.
Everybody’s human. Given how much information how you have to slog through to prepare 1 of these articles, I’m surprised how rarely any mistake creeps in.
did the team behind Jet.com go along with the domain/business sale ??
I know the CEO at least did, he is set to run Walmart.com
