Welcome to another round of DotWeekly Discoveries, Powered by DomainIQ.com ! Doing domain name research like never before with the massive suit of tools offered is going to make my job easier, and likely yours as well! I will be providing a bunch of new stuff soon because of the data I am not able to see using DomainIQ!
Let’s get to today’s huge list of corporate domain name movers from large companies who purchased, registered and are simply moving domain names! Huge list today and several unknowns (for now) but I shared them anyway even though the companies are hiding behind generic whois data, at least you are aware of the domains.
Guthy-Renker LLC
Was likely hired by Kimberly Clark to help promote its Depend brand for home delivery. This is one of those products that people likely would preferr to buy online in a discreat manner and
that’s the approach they appear to be going based on the domains registered:
BuyDepend.com, BuyDepends.com, DependDelivery.com, DependHomeDelivery.com, DependsHomeDelivery.com, DependForWomen.com and DependForMen.com and plural of each.
Unknown
A currently unknown client of MarkMonitor has registered the domain name AcmeMotors.org and AcmeMotors.info . The AcmeMotors.com domain name is owned by Adam Strong who recently sold Racing.com .
iPick.com
Was very likely purchased by a currently unknown MarkMonitor client. The domain has been under whois privacy for sometime but Vertical Axis had owned it in the past and the domain had HitFarm.com name servers as of recently, so it is likely that VA had still owned the domain when it sold.
J. Walter Thompson Company Limited
Was likely hired by Heineken for an upcoming advertising campaign as JWT registered the domain name HeinekenGreenCard.com . JWT is a marketing communications brand.
Unknown
The domain name LearnMart.com has very likely been purchased by a currently unknown MarkMonitor client, likely at Afternic. The domain was listed at Sedo with a $4,000 price.
Nokia
Likely has sold the domain name Starfish.com via Sedo. Nokia had owned the domain name and whois switched to a generic name used by MarkMonitor on 12/9/2010. At that time the domain was listed at Sedo and used the SedoParking.com name servers.
Starfish.com transferred to the registrar Rebel.com on 7/2/2014 and by 7/5/2014 showed the generic MarkMonitor “Matt Serlin” in whois data again but name servers updated to InternetTraffic.com . By 8/5/2014, whois updated again to privacy showing PrivacyHero.company .
Haymarket Media Group Limited
Registered the domain name WindColdClimates.com for it’s WindPowerMonthly.com site, which is promoting its inaugural Optimizing Wind Farms In Cold Climates conference. They forward the domain name to http://www.windpowermonthly.com/coldclimatesconference . Who knew such a conference even existed!
Ocean Media, Inc.
Has purchased the domain name SafeCredit.com from a clinet of BuyDomains.com . I was not able to find a publicly listed sales price.
VeriSign, Inc.
Has registered a couple “headscratchers” with CabbageTacoTruck.com and CabbageTacoTruck.net . I think cabbage would be about the last thing I would put on a taco, let alone to think of
putting it on a taco. To go along with the unusual domain registrations, they kept it up by registering IndoorFishPond.com and IndoorFishPond.net . I’m not sure of that many “ponds” indoors but at least this one isn’t far stretched.
JCT.com
On August 12, 2014 I mentioned the domain JCT.com (in a Tracing Tracks article) that likely sold and I was trying to figure out why around 3,500 domains were added to Rivers.com name servers.. well, I figured out that JCT.com had sold and the likely reason all the domains moved off the name server. Well, the move was short lived, as the 3,500 + domains moved back off of Rivers.com back to JCT.com now. Maybe I exposed something they didn’t like. LeaseDomains.com owns Rivers.com .
Unknown
A MarkMonitor client has registered the domain name AWonderfulCompany.com . Could this be related to the discovery I found with Wonderful.com appearing to be sold recently? Hard to say at
this point. A slew of other “wonderful” domain registrations recently took place as well, like WonderfulWinery.com, WonderfulVineyards.com, WonderfulFlorists.com, WonderfulFlowerBuyer.com,
WonderfulJustinWine.com, WonderfulLandmark.com, WonderfulLandmarkVineyards.com and WonderfulTeleflora.com to mention a few.
So was the Wonderful.com potential buyer Teleflora with that last domain registered?
Stratosphere.net
Was very likely purchased from Frank Schillings Name Admin Inc. The domain was listed for $33,000 and appears to have sold on or about 6/2/2014. MarkMonitor was behind the purchase for a
likely client. The only current connection that I can see is maybe PivotPoint, LLC who registered the .biz in March of 2014. That was the only other recent activity that I have seen.
MarkMonitor
Appears to have registered “matt” in just about every new gTLD that I have seen available. “Matt Serlin” is a generic term used in a good portion of MarkMonitor registered domains and may have a connection. Matt.luxury, matt.agency, matt.cab, matt.domains and matt.exposed are some examples.
Dominations.com
Was very likely purchased on behalf of a CSC CORPORATE DOMAINS, INC. client. Donny Simonton was the seller.
Racing Victoria
Continues its “racing” domain name buying after purchasing GoRacing.com, Racing.com and now VicRacing.com .
LeapFrog Enterprise Inc
Has acquired the domain name LeapSearch.com from Codesummit LLC.
WhyWeWork.com
Has been acquired on behalf of a CSC CORPORATE DOMAINS, INC. client. The domain was registered in 2002.
Citrix Systems Inc
Registered the domain name WWCO.org and WWCO.net and also appear to have acquired WWCO.com which is currently in privacy protection via Domain.com . The past owner of the .com was Wizard Workshop and Company and it appears a likely transaction took place around 10/11/2013. This give a good indication on how “early” some companies are buying domains prior to likely going to use them. With the recent registrations of the .net and .org, it likely indicates that the domain will be used in some way shortly.
CBS
Registered several CbsAllAccess.com domain names in several typo and hyphen versions. They do not appear to currently own the .com
CBS also registered the domain name ConnectingUsNow.com
HCA Information Technology and Services (EHC.com which is in beta)
Registered the domain name ItsNotGoingAway.com . Catchy, I like it!
First Direct (HSBC)
Registered the domain names FirstFrill.com and First-Frill.com
HumanSignals.com
Was acquired on behalf of a MarkMonitor client. SignalMatch inc was the past owner.
GetCarousel.com
Something is up with it. The domain was onwed by Dulac Pierre and the GetCarousel app which was launched in July 2013 but now the whois for the domain has switched to DNStination Inc. .
Dropbox had recently launched a “Carousel” app in April 2014 after acquiring “Loom” and on the premium domain Carousel.com There has been zero activity on the GetCarousel.com app page since July 24 2014. https://www.facebook.com/getcarousel
I would have to assume GetCarousel.com and Loom have a connection.
Dropbox appears to have acquired Carousel.com on 2/15/2014 from “The Carousel Company”
Elavon Inc.
Registered the domain names ConvergePay.com back in March 2014 but it was only recently revealed it was Elavon. The registered the .net and .org on the same day.
Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation
Has registered TheFace.tv . TheFace.com is listed for sale currently for $50K
Sold Domains
TodaysHeadlines.com (about $8,000) to a Google registrar client. Sold via BuyDomains
uSent.com (about $3,888)
“I think cabbage would be about the last thing I would put on a taco, let alone to think of
putting it on a taco.”……………FYI, cabbage in fish tacos are very popular in Mexico, Latin countries and America. They are a staple in coastal communities in North and South America…Growing up in California, I have rarely ever seen a fish taco without cabbage. I only mention because I thought it was as normal as four tires on a car…….Meanwhile, I continue to appreciate your post’s.
I have your answer on the Verisign domains:

Looks like one of their videos will have those indoor pond domains
