Carnival Corporation Was Ocean.com Domain Buyer

Carnival Corporation has acquired the premium generic domain name Ocean.com. The domain name was first reported sold by Elliott over at DomainInvesting.com on September 9, 2016. I followed up not long ago, mentioning it appears the buyers were getting ready to launch a website and that has now taken place.

Ocean.com

Richard Lau was the seller of the domain name, which he acquired for $100,000 in 2011. The purchase price was undisclosed, but I highly expect this domain name to have sold for well into six figures, if not higher!

You will notice in the logo above, Carnival is actually using the Ocean word as an acronym: One Cruise Experience Access Network

Carnival is cross promoting all 10 of its cruise line brands in one place, which makes a lot of branding sense and links to other websites it owns like Princess.com, Carnival.com, Cunard.com, HollandAmerica.com and more.

Carnival Corporation is a company who “gets it” when it comes to creating brands and backing them up with make sense, premium domain names! These are very valuable assets to own and they are not shy to invest to secure the brands!

Carnival owns over 2,000 domain names and is a public company, listed on the NYSE under CCL. They had $15.71 Billion in revenue in 2015.
