Welcome back my friends to another kicking, best damn domain list you will read today! From the DotWeekly Discoveries series, powered by DomainIQ.com I present you with domain names that have been recently purchased and registered by large companies! These are early discoveries that often lead to new brands, new products, new services and more by many large companies.

Rainbow Loom

Used the law firm Harness, Dickey & Pierce, PLC to help them acquire the domain name CoolRainbow.com at BuyDomains for an undisclosed sum. The company uses several similar domains like CoolRainbowLoom.com for an example.

Volvo Trucks North America

Has registered the domain name SelectPartStore.com

Unknown

A currently unknown company has purchased the domain name TogetherTown.com from BuyDomains. The domain had a listing price of $1,888 and was likely the purchase price.

Accenture Global Services Limited

Appears to have moved the domain name ICGC.com from a Procurian IP Holdings LLC to Accenture according to whois records. Based on what I can tell, Procurian is a subsidiary of Accenture.

Comcast

Was behind the purchase of the domain names SeeIt.com and SeeIt.net . A DotWeekly reader suggested it was Comcast when I posted it before, but only a generic Comcast email address was used and I didn’t think that was a strong enough link to Comcast. Now the domains have been loaded up to Comcast name servers.

The New York Times Company

Registered the domain name ArtForTomorrow.com

Rosetta Stone

Which acquired Vivity Labs Inc. around December 2013 is starting to transfer domain names in once listed as Vivity, like EverydayBrain.com, EverydayBrainGym.com and EverydayBrainWorkout.com for an example. Vivity’s main domain/product was FitBrains.com (they do not own the singular) and similar domains like FitBrains.biz, .net, .org, .info, .mobi etc
are also transferring in.

Google Inc.

Which acquired cloud monitoring service StackDriver.com / Stackdriver, Inc. has started transferring in domain names from its purchase. StackDriver.com and StackWatcher.com for an example. Several other domains like GridHub.net and .info (The .com was not owned by Stackdriver). MyCloudAudit.com .net .info etc.

Amazon

Did its normal thing when launching new products / services / features and registered a slew of domain names relating to its announcement. They announced new Kindles and Kindle Fire HD and HDX tablets. They registered AdaptiveFrontLight.com, AmazonPagePress.com, AmazonWordWise.com, AmazonFireKeyboard.com, FireHDTablet.com (a lot of fire hd domains) AmazonKindleVoyage.com, KindleNightLight.com, KindleThin.com and a lot of Kindle Voyage domains in general like KindleVoyageWifi.com, KindleVoyage3g.com, KindleVoyageNews.com etc.

Amazon registered KindleVoyage.com on 2/11/2014 to give you an idea of how earlier before product launch they keyed the term.

Now Amazon has A LOT of versions of the “Kindle” with Kindle Voyage, Kindle, Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD, Kindle Fire HDX and one I think they should have “named”, the Kindle Fire HD “Kids Version”. Even if they named it Kindle Fire HDK would have been better than “Kids Version”! My son has the Kindle Fire HDX 7″ tablet and we got it for him for Christmas last year and he likes it, I do not! It lacks memory, buffers a lot on the Video Tube app and now almost a year old… the battery tanks pretty fast. Next time I will get him an iPad. The Kindle Fire HDX overall has been good for him in general, mainly with “Amazon” stuff, but once you go beyond I think it lacks. The UI is confusing for kids when you start getting into the “on device” downloaded videos (which is the main reason we purchased it) but I do like that feature for mobile show/movie viewing in the car. Hes dropped it many of times and the leather case we have
on it fairs well.

AppSite.com

Something is up with the domain…. Media Temple Inc. owned the domain then it switched to MarkMonitor and Matt Serlin. It was listed on Sedo at some point for around $2,500 and now the domain switched back to Media Temple Inc. and back to domain registrar GoDaddy.

Unknown

A currently unknown MarkMonitor client has likely purchased the domain name MiTv.com . The domain was listed for $188,000 via Afternic but that listing still remains. I did find that MiTv.com sold for $75,000 though. U Television is a potential buyer.

Microsoft

Has revealed they were the buyers of the domain name SearchRewards.com. The domain was listed as “Media Market” and mediamarket.net with MarkMonitor since November 20, 2009. I think that domain is owned by MarkMonitor. In 2012 whois changed to several more generic MarkMonitor names like DNStination Inc. and Matt Serlin. Microsoft launched Bing Rewards in September 2010.

Target Brands Inc.

Has registered some “recall” domain names in TargetProductRecall.com, TargetProductRecalls.com, TargetProductsRecall.com TargetProductsRecalls.com . Upcoming recall?

1-800-FLOWERS.COM, INC.

Registered the domain name TasteWhy.com . I like the domain and it will likely be used in advertising with a “food” related product (not flowers) for maybe something like Berries.com for an example.

Pin.me

Was acquried by a currently unknown company but one would have to assume Pinterest would be behind the purchase.

Press.biz

Was acquired by a currently unknown company via Sedo.
