Here are the latest domain movers detected by DotWeekly over the past 24 hours, with a focus on corporate domain transaction and general high value domain names.
Apple Inc. did something pretty rare and registered several new domain names. DwellContol.com, AppleDwellControl.com, AppleSwitchControl.com, AppleVoiceover.com and AccessibilityAtApple.com. They also secured iTunesCard.com in some fashion (I didn’t see a UDRP listing for it). There was a pretty popular website on the domain name, offering iTunes Cards but the site no longer resolves, nor has Apple redirected the domain to any place yet.
NaturalChoice.com which I mentioned the other day which recently sold to an unknown buyer at that time, the buyer was the Hormel brand. They are currently redirecting NaturalChoice.com to MakeTheNaturalChoice.com
Davidson’s Inc. has acquired GunExpert.com out of the GoDaddy NameFind portfolio for an undisclosed amount, which was likely in the 4-5 figure range. Great, make sense domain name.
LikeAGlove.me has acquired EMD LikeAGlove.com also out of the NameFind portfolio.
Equitec Holding B.V. has acquired the domain name SureCity.com with the transaction taking place at Afternic. This was also a NameFind owned domain.
United Online Web Services, Inc. has sold another 2 character domain name and this time was i8.com, which was also acquired by a Chinese domain investor. The last one they sold was 9F.com. They also sold 5U.com prior.
From what I can tell, United Online Web Services Inc. (Net Zero Inc.) still owns 5, 2 character .com domains.
FO.com has likely sold. The domain moved into “OK” status on 2/15/2017 and on 2/16/2017 went into whois privacy protection at GoDaddy. Name servers also changed to CashParking.com, which is GoDaddy’s parking service. The domain was owned by Mike Gleissner and was offered on Afternic for $1,200,000. That is a generalized price point for general 2 letter .com’s currently.
Yippy Inc. acquired WWW2.com at domain name aftermarket service Sedo for $22,800. Why so much? www2 is a very common subdomain used.
Mixer.com has been acquired by a currently unknown MarkMonitor client. The domain was owned by Tucow’s YummyNames.com prior and was listed for sale using Uniregistry. Based on whois history, the domain was owned by Myxer.com until February 2015 when it went into whois privacy around 2/10/2015. Around August 8, 2015 YummyNames appears in whois records.
EasyPour.com has been acquired by a currently unknown CSC Corporate Domains client. The domain was owned by BuyDomains prior. A cached Sedo listing shows the domain was listed for only $1,688
Sony acquires ShopTheMovie.com via domain name aftermarket service Sedo. The domain was owned by Network Solutions subsidiary New Ventures Services, Corp.
WWDC.com has transferred into MarkMonitor and was likely acquired by a currently unknown client. The domain has been for sale over the years.
Do Apple use MarkMonitor? As they are the most logic buyers for WWDC.com
In general, Apple is a CSC Corporate Domains client with about a 90/10 split between CSC / MarkMonitor. The majority of Apple / MarkMonitor registered domains are new gTLD domains.
Thanks for sharing Jamie Z. Your research and post is one of my daily ‘look for’.
I’m still scratching my head on www2.com clearing over $22k. That’s definitely a domain you normally wouldn’t see appraised that high, even in an end-user market. It just goes to show that no matter where you get your domains appraised, there is never a guarantee and anything can happen. The right place, at the right time, with the right presentation, and a motivated buyer. That’s what it boiled down to.
watching for the WWW2 apparel…
