Amazon Technologies registered two new domain names according to whois records that caught my attention on January 27, 2016

  • AdvertisingAmazon.com
  • AmazonAdwords.com

The first registration matches the sub-domain name used by Amazon for its AAP advertising program they offer. The second domain name registration is a No No IMO!

Amazon is fine, adwords is not.

Google appears to be getting ready to launch a new watch with the name “Tacto” which means “Touch” in Spanish. Google had acquired WIMM Labs back in 2012 and they had owned the domain name TactoWatch.com at that time but Google gained control over the domain when it purchased WIMM Labs. Google has also revealed they own the category killer domain name SmartWatch.com and SmartWatch.net also moving yesterday which I covered here as well.

I noticed some action on GrandCentral.com a domain name that has been owned by Google Inc. . The domain was with domain name registrar MarkMonitor and has just transferred OUT to GoDaddy.com and includes the email address [email protected] in whois.

Google is still shown in whois records as the “owner” (registrant) of the domain and the only change besides registrar is the Registrant Email. To me, this indicates a sale or potential partnership in some way.
