Company Domain Movers: KY.com, Diligent.com & More

Welcome back my friends to another round of company domain movers in a series I call DotWeekly Discoveries. A series which digs and digs to find domain name recently registered, purchased or simply moving for one reason or another by many large companies. These are often early discoveries which lead to future brands, products, services, companies and more.

Johnson & Johnson / Reckitt Benckiser

JNJ has transferred the two letter domain name KY.com to Reckitt Benckiser after the sale of the KY brand purchase. I had mentioned the sale prior and the vast majority of the KY brand domain names have transferred to RB… but I was keeping an eye on the domain KY.com because it had not transferred. JNJ has always used the domain K-Y.com as its “main domain”, so I wondered if the two letter domain KY.com was included in the purchase, and now the transfer confirms it was. Two letter .com domains are rare, and valuable, with some selling for a million dollars or more, so I wonder in the valuation of the brand prior to sale if that “one small factor” is considered or often over looked? Again, KY.com was not the main domain used by JNJ.

Intel Corporation

Has purchased the domain name TrueKey.com with the help of domain buying service Marksmen on May 28, 2014 and now displays Intel as the buyer. The domain was listed with DomainNameSales.com . From what I can tell, the domain was owned by Port Media.

Sharecare, Inc.

Has purchased the domain name UltimateMe.com from BuyDomains. The domain had a listing price of $4,188 . Sharecare is co-founded by Dr. Oz and is a health related service. UltimateMe.com was last registered in April 2009 and had been registered once prior but the domain was allowed to expire and was removed from the registry.

Unknown

A currently unknown company has purchased the domain name JustBlink.com likely at Sedo, where the domain was parked. The domain names JustBlink.net and JustBlink.org were registered at GoDaddy using the email address [email protected] on November 10, 2013 . Those domain registrations were not a coincidence and I’m 99% sure they will be connected to who the buyer is.

Swiss Watch International

Has obtained the domain name SmartBargains.com in some way. The domain was registered at Network Solutions under “SmartBargains.com” but has now transferred to GoDaddy and under the Swiss Watch name. Hosting has also changed. The trademark on SmartBargains.com was filed in 2000 and is owned by Swiss Watch International… so they appear to have owned the domain prior and simply decided to put the domain in the Swiss name instead. It is an established online retail discount store.

Target Brand

Has registered the domain name TargetHealthful.com

Disney

Has registered the domain name CarsDaredevil.com likely for something related to its super popular “Cars” brand.

Merk

Has registered the domain name HospitalPen.com

Sony Pictures

Registered the domain name TheAngryBirdsMovie.com which they will be releasing on July 1, 2016 according to Wikia.com

Unknown

A currently unknown company appears to have purchased the domain name BaselineStudy.com . Interestingly enough, the domain name was recently registered by a 4.cn customer in July 2014 and now is registered by MarkMoniker and using the DNStination Inc generic name.

The domain name FollowMeMore.com was also appears to have been purchased for an undisclosed amount.

The Scotts Company

Appears to have purchased the domain name Naturescapes.com from Naturescapes Publishing, Inc. Scotts does offer a product called Nature Scapes.

Shop Direct Home Shopping Limited

Was likely the buyer of VeryExclusive.com from MostWantedDomains.com via Sedo for $30,000. They registered the .org on 9/17/2014. Interesting enough, somebody else (Patrick McNair) registered the .net on 10/8/2014. The transfer process via sedo did start to take place on 10/7/2014, so that may have been the reason behind the .net registration. Why Shop Direct didn’t register the .net in September when they registered the .org is unknown.

Shop Direct is a multi-brand online retailer in the United Kingdom and Ireland and offers a site called LittleWoods.com for an example.

Diligent Board Member Services, Inc.

Appears to have been the buyer of the domain name Diligent.com, a domain I reported earlier that was owned by IBM. The companies main website is BoardBooks.com

Universal Music Operations UK Ltd

Has purchased the domain name Composed.com from Original Web Ventures Inc. for an undisclosed amount.

Amazon Technologies, Inc.

Registered several Registry Service domain names, like AmazonRegistryService.com to add to its ever growing domain name collection which now is over 36,000 domain names!

Anheuser-Busch, LLC

Is likely getting ready for the holiday seasons and registered the domain name BreweryLights.com . I’m sure it could be used for something else (going green).

Unknown

A currently unknown MarkMonitor client has purchased the domain name BitSwitcher.com for an undisclosed sum.

Home Box Office, Inc.

Registered the domain name GotSight.com

Morningstar Inc.

Which acquired HelloWallet Holdings Inc. for $52.5 Million in May 2014 has taken control of the main domain name HelloWallet.com

United Artists Corporation (which apears to be MGM.com)

Has purchased the domain name UAMG.com . The domain was owned by Get On The Web Limited. The domain had a for sale lander with a price of $9,950 but the sales price is currently unknown.

Ended Auctions via GoDaddy Auctions

ManWorld.com $2,660
Winners.org $2,550
vDesk.com $3,551

  1. JNJ don’t use LL.com names. I have no idea why. They own JJ.com, but it redirects to JNJ.com. KY.com redirects to K-Y.com.
