Business Insider, Inc. has acquired the premium generic domain name Insider.com
Insider.com has been registered since June 6, 1997 and was owned by P.A. Gordon prior to be acquired at domain name aftermarket service Sedo.com for an undisclosed amount.
It was announced in December 2017 that Business Insider was rebranding and removing “Business” from its corporate name and becoming Insider Inc. but the Business Insider name was not going away.
Insider Inc. is launching may new verticals similar to Tech Insider, Markets Insider and Insider Studios to mention a few, with many more to come soon.
It is not clear at this time how the new Insider.com domain name will be used, but they have many options. The domain will likely be used though as the companies main website and each vertical “sub-domain’ed” off it. Business.Insider.com for an example, Markets.Insider.com and Insider.com will house and display all the brands.
Although a sale price is currently unknown, it is safe to say the purchase price was well into six figures US.
