Premium generic domain name Duck.com has transferred domain name registrars and potentially has been acquired by DuckDuckGo from Google Inc.

Google Inc. has owned the premium generic domain name Duck.com since it acquired On2 Technologies in 2010, who owned the domain name prior.

DuckDuckGo, which operates a privacy browser, has said that by Google owning Duck.com, that it confuses its users. This is not something I believe but they have mentioned it:

Ultra premium domain names are super rare and many of them sell for millions of dollars! Tube.com is one of those domain names and it held an offering price of $5 Million.

It just sold!

So who were the buyers? Right now, that is an unknown. The domain name has transferred to brand protection service MarkMonitor using it’s generic DnStination Inc. data:

Marshalls department stores, which is owned by TJX Companies, has acquired the domain name Marshalls.com from Marshalls PLC of the UK. Both are publicly traded companies.

Marshalls (TJX) is currently using the domain name MarshallsOnline.com for the brands main website, while Marshalls (UK) is/was using both Marshalls.com (corporate) & Marshalls.co.ukĀ  (corporate & products).

This transaction holds the potential to be a substantial domain name purchase, which may be revealed in a SEC filing at some point.
