Lister Motor Company Acquires Lister.com + More Domain Movers

Domain Movers highlights domain name transactions of companies around the world. These are very important domain name assets being acquired and DotWeekly highlights them for you.

To note, this week has been challenging doing research. CSC started showing some restricted whois data at DomainTools, and GoDaddy continues to do so as well. I have also been seeing prior whois details transferring with the domain name to the new owners, this mainly happens at GoDaddy. This prevents me from seeing who purchased the domain. I continue to have “volume” issue restrictions, which is also hurting my research. So the follow is really a tiny sample of some of the recent domain transactions by companies that I could share:

Namecheap Inc. has sold DomainName.com at Sedo for an undisclosed amount according to whois records. TheDomains.com reported that the buyer is NameService.com founder Yinan Wang. Yinan also acquired DomainNames.com, which was owned by Network Solutions/New Ventures Services Corp, but NSI clawed that domain name back after Yinan paid the requested $2,577 and received the transfer of the domain for 2 days. That whole mess is another story! I was surprised to see Namecheap sell DomainName.com, since it’s what they offer.

Kryptos.com has been sold by Mike Mann of DomainMarket.com. The domain also sold at Sedo for a currently unknown price but did hold a $94,888 buy now price. Buyers are currently unknown.

TurboEngine.com has been acquired out of GoDaddy’s NameFind portfolio by Joshua Klint for a Leadwerks game engine. The domain held a buy now of $7,299. Potential rebrand?

Keurig Green Mountain, Inc. / Dr Pepper have acquired KDRP.com, which is the new acronym of the merged company Keurig Dr Pepper. The domain name was owned by True Magic LLC which is owned by Merlin Kauffman (founder of Soothe.com) and was for sale via Uniregistry at the time. It would appear the domain was acquired using the name Mark S. McDermott and a gmail address. Mark appears to be an attorney. KDP.com could be another potential acronym considered but that domain is owned and used by Amazon for the Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing.

SkyCircle.com has been acquired by a currently unknown MarkMonitor client. The transaction took place at Afternic

BeanSupreme.com has been acquired by a currently unknown CSC Corporate Domains client. The domain held an offering price of only $1,988

Lister Motor Company Ltd. has acquired its exact match .com domain name Lister.com from Tucows. The domain was part of Tucows RealNames / Mailbank domain name portfolio. Lister is currently using ListerCars.com, so this is a big domain name upgrade for the brand. Similar to when Tesla acquired Tesla.com, improving from TeslaMotors.com. A domain name like Lister.com could sell for $50K, $500K or even $5M and the reason I love domain names so much. This is a very important asset to Lister in many ways. The Lister Coupe looks amazing and only 99 are being produced! Very wise domain name purchase by Lister, brand securing and shows you mean business. Since they brand as “Lister” owning Lister.com simply makes sense.

Whalers Brewing Company acquires the premium generic domain name Whalers.com out of GoDaddy’s NameFind portfolio. This is a domain name upgrade for the company from WhalersBrewing.com. In general, WhalersBrewing.com isn’t “bad” as it is who they are and describes what they do. When you look at the companies branding though, “Whalers” is the main focus and why acquiring Whalers.com is the smart thing to do! It is also less restrictive.

Go-daddy hiding Whois information is a red herring for proof of Gross Conflict of Interest, when dealing with them on many levels. Domainers are being Whip sawed and CarpetBagged by Go-daddy. JAS
