Flont Inc Upgrades Domain From .club and Acquires Flont.com

Flont.com

Flont, Inc. has acquired its exact match .com domain name, Flont.com, upgrading from Flont.club.

The “Jewelry as a Service” offers fine jewelry rental and try and buy via a membership service. Flont, Inc. was founded in October 2016 and launched to the public in May 2017 on the domain name Flont.club.

It appears the .com domain name was acquired using Escrow.com to complete the transaction around September 2017 from its past owner PNP Research Labs Pvt. Ltd. for an undisclosed amount.

Flont currently has about $5 million in total funding. 1, $2M round (March 2017) prior to acquiring and upgrading to the .com domain and 1, $3M round (Oct 2017) after acquiring the .com domain.

Its not that .club is a bad domain name extension, IMO it just creates an extra challenge to brand and get people to your website. .com is so common, trusted and expected, I’m certain the company was losing web visitors and vital communication via email to Flont.com. As a company, you not only have to market your brand, you then have to put extra effort into marketing the .club part of your domain name as well. Add in the fact that some may hear the term and assume its Flaunt, not Flont, adds to the challenge.

Why not launch with Flont.com instead of Flont.club? I do not know the exact answer in this situation, but it’s often about money. At times, the past owner of the domain name doesn’t wish to sell or an offer made doesn’t interest them. Making a higher offer can and often does change this and may be the case here.

Congratulations to Flont.com on your domain name upgrade!

? That’s a polite way of saying .club is a bad domain name extension.

    1. I see better uses for .club and actually like it better than most gTLD’s. Sams.club, Shooting.club, Sewing.club, Beer.club etc. I much prefer a .com over any TLD though.
