DuckDuckGo May Have Acquired Duck.com From Google

Premium generic domain name Duck.com has transferred domain name registrars and potentially has been acquired by DuckDuckGo from Google Inc.

Google Inc. has owned the premium generic domain name Duck.com since it acquired On2 Technologies in 2010, who owned the domain name prior.

DuckDuckGo, which operates a privacy browser, has said that by Google owning Duck.com, that it confuses its users. This is not something I believe but they have mentioned it:

Well, Duck.com has now transferred to domain name registrar NameCheap under whois privacy. The domain was registered with brand protection service MarkMonitor prior and owned by Google Inc. Although whois records are under privacy, it IS the same domain name registrar that DuckDuckGo.com uses. Also, the Name Servers are using Amazon services both on DuckDuckGo.com and Duck.com

Right now, things are pointing to DuckDuckGo acquiring the premium generic domain name Duck.com from Google but we will see with a little bit of time.
