Target Marketplace

Domain Movers highlights domain name transactions with a focus on companies around the world. Domain names are vital assets to companies for branding, marketing and much more. Here are some early insights into new detection’s by DotWeekly:

Target Brands is prepping the launch of another in-house brand, this time called Universal Thread. Target does a great job at acquiring the exact match .com domain names to these brand launches, which is the right thing to do. Did they acquire UniveralThread.com? YES! Although the domain name has been registered since July 9, 1997, Target acquired the domain name from the past owners. Although current whois records do not directly show Target Brands as the owners, the whois is generic and using CSC Corporate Domains data, who Target uses.

Domain buyer broker Marksmen Inc. acquired the domain name on behalf of Target Brands in early April 2017 from DMIB Inc. according to whois history records. How much did they pay? Good question and the price really could be all over the board. It could be a few thousand, it likely was well into the five figures though. Why so much? There is only one UniversalThread.com and it’s vital to protect your brand and easily be able to direct consumers to your product without any confusion.

Universal Thread is set to launch in February 2018, so I’d expect the domain name to show ownership of Target around then.

To note, Target Brands also did the very wise thing and acquired the plural version, UniversalThreads.com from its past owners BuyDomains.com “to cover its bases”. Another wise move! Marksmen also assisted in this purchase and was likely the easiest purchase of the two.

David Beckham is launching a new global grooming brand called House 99. This new grooming brand will launch in the UK, exclusively at Harvey Nichols, on February 1st 2018, and will roll out to other British retailers, and in 19 countries, from March 1st 2018. At this time, whois does not reflect that Beckham has acquired House99.com. The domain name is under whois privacy, so that could be hiding it but based on what I see, it doesn’t appear it has been acquired as it should be with a global brand.

Chick-fil-A, Inc. has acquired Truetts.com with the help of domain name buyer broker Marksmen for an undisclosed price. The domain was registered in January 2015 and adds to the over 800 domains already owned by Chick-fil-A.

Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer has acquired StoryTone.com from BrandBucket with the help of Marksmen. The domain held an offering price of $2,295.

TheInventory.com has been acquired by a currently unknown CSC client, out of GoDaddy’s NameFind portfolio for an undisclosed amount.

GoDaddy also sold about 21 other domain names out of its NameFind portfolio and some of those included: MF.org, FortSecurity.com to J.F. Kiely Construction Co., FDO.org, GoodKicks.com, TexasFarmCredit.com and FriendsAndNeighbors.com

CVS Pharmacy, Inc. registered MinuteClinicBlockchain.com and OmnicareBlockchain.com adding to the nearly 1,300 other domains already owned by the company.

Verizon registered several Verizon 5g IE related domains, including Verizon5GIE.com, Verizon5Gien.com, VerizonIE.com and VerizonIEN.com. They also registered VerizonStudio.com, VerizonDigitalStudios.com and Verizon-Studios.com

MyCreditGuide.com has been acquired by a currently unknown CSC Corporate Domains client from its past owner for an undisclosed amount.

  1. house99.ca is shown as registered to L’Oreal, so Beckham must be doing his brand through them. The domain already points to his page.

  2. Hello Jamie,
It is becoming more and more evident that Code Manipulation and expert Online Marketing of a Strategic nature differ immensely. Online Google /SEM Centric Marketing is counterproductive and Counter Expansionary in nature.
There is a coming reckoning for so-called professional On-line Marketing Companies, who push SEM online Marketing Tactics. SEM = (Very Bad Deal for aspiring Online start-ups + .COM owners and operators ) The fallout will crush reputations and Corporations. Google/Alphabet will have lots of Mud on their faces, because the truth always eventually comes out. Many Many whistleblowers will come out of hiding. Those who opologize NOW will survive. Those who don’t BAD KARMA to say the least. JAS
