Domain Movers: Treva.com, SmartMonday.com + More

This is the last Domain Movers for awhile as I’m going to take a break from the series. It takes a lot of time and effort to produce these articles and I know a lot of people love them. It’s important for the domain industry and more but DotWeekly doesn’t earn any money and it has been becoming a challenge due to limitations with DomainTools to do the needed research. Currently my Whois History is maxed out, so it’s nearly impossible to do these articles without it. Just prior to that Registrant Monitoring was reduced to 6, but after a week or so was bumped up.

DomainTools.com tools are priceless in the research I do for these articles and I’m grateful they give me free access with a grouped Enterprise account but it’s still limiting. I could pay for upgrades but the site doesn’t make any money, nor does DomainTools allow for my account to be upgraded.

So anyway, here are a few corporate Domain Movers to sign off:

Treva.com has been acquired by a currently unknown MarkMonitor client. MarkMonitor had acquired Treva.net which I reported on May 16, 2017 and at that time I noted the .com was owned by GoDaddy’s NameFind and held a $15,000 offering price. Potential buyer is Eastman Chemical Company who recently filed a TM on the term May 11, 2017.

SmartMonday.com has been sold by Logan Flatt. He acquired the domain name in February 2017 for $69 and listed it for $14,488 which the buyer used the BIN. CSC Corporate Domains was the buyer for a currently unknown client. To note, the prior owner before the domain name dropped in Feb/2017 had the domain listed with a $1,499 buy now. Timing!

SnackfaceSmile.com/.net, Snackface.net and SmileOnYourSnackface.com/.net have all be registered by a currently unknown MarkMonitor client. To note, Snackface.com is currently for sale for $2,795 and owned by HugeDomains. Will they spend the $2,795 and acquire Snackface.com? If the advertising effort has that term as the focus, they should. With the .net registration, it points that way or why register it! Kailey Strachan is about to become sad, she uses Snack-Face.com and will likely become overshadowed by the upcoming marketing push for the term.

BasicCare.com has been acquired by a currently unknown CSC Corporate Domains client. The domain was owned by WebContents, Inc. prior and held a $3,600 offering price.

CPA Global Management Services LTD registered the domain name DevaldoGroup.com adding to the 2,500+ other domain names they own.

TA Windows has acquired WoodenDoors.com from Frank Schillings Name Administration Inc. The domain name held a $44,000 offering price and has been registered since 1997. To note, WoodDoors.com is for sale but not only as a domain name, it includes a website, complete door shop and equipment.

Tesoro Corporation has acquired Andeavor.com for a rebrand. The domain has been registered since 2001 and I’m not sure who owned it before because my whois history at DomainTools is maxed out.

Thank you to all who read this series and take time to comment and thank me for doing them! I really do enjoy doing them and helping out the domain industry as a whole.

  1. Thanks for the series Jamie! DotWeekly provides great info into what styles corporations are actually buying, as well as insight about the stealth acquisition companies etc. And any prices you also uncover are a very welcome bonus, as are clever opinions like your comment about timing for “SmartMonday” today.

Seems you have been investing too much time and resources, maybe after a break you could resume but just one or two times a week or something might be a better idea. You’ve often made it clear that not all moves can be reported and that’s perfectly fine.

I don’t know about other readers, I don’t have any wish or even a use for a comprehensive report about every big daily domain sale. Just appreciate occasional but regular reports, so I can watch out for general trends and evolution in the industry and whatever incidental info you sometimes uncover. For example I’ve learned a lot about companies like MarkMonitor from DotWeekly. Anyhow, good luck with everything.

  2. Thanks Jamie for sharing domain movers series. Always nice to read and learn something new every time with such helpful posts.

Good sale of SmartMonday.com by Logan. Congrats to both parties.

  3. I’ve always looked forward to your post “Domain Movers”, I’ve been investing in domains for nearly 5 years, and your regular post hast been really informative, and honestly the Domain Movers is my favourite post. I also enjoy NP and Domaining, but DotWeekly is the very best. THANKS YOU for all your time and research Jamie.

  4. Hi Jamie–thanks so much for all of your posts! Through your research, I have learned a great deal.
    Best wishes–Jack

  5. NOOOO! I love this series. I just reupped my DT account – would be happy to do extra research for you if needed!

  6. I cry every time Jamie quits “Domain Movers”. It’s just that good.

If only DomainTools.com would get their act together for Jamie and for the rest of us jilted former customers. I’d love to start back up paying them money for their services — just not that much money for such little services.

  7. Thanks Jamie! I appreciated the Domain Movers series. The last 2 years, it became my favorite domaining blog and it was very interesting to see what was happening backstage, at the big domain end-users and owners. Best regards from Belgium. I wish you success!
