Domain Movers: Peanuts.com, Quirk.com + More

Draft.com

Welcome! This is Domain Movers. We focus on corporate domain name transactions and report these early findings to you. These are often indicators of new brands, domain name upgrades, future advertising efforts and more.

A very special thank you to DomainTools.com for providing the needed research tools to produce these reports. Without the vast database of Whois History and Registrant Monitor, these reports could not happen!

I would also like to wish the many domain name investors and companies in Florida safety and security from the incoming hurricane Irma, which is set to make landfall this Sunday.

Here is a sampling of the latest Domain Movers:

Tolomatic, Inc. has acquired RollerScrews.com at domain name aftermarket service Afternic.com for an undisclosed amount.

Major League Soccer LLC has acquired AustinAthletic.com from its past owners, BuyDomains. The domain has been registered since 2012.

Quirk Books has acquired Quirk.com in a domain name upgrade for the company and one that is less restrictive from a wider branding perspective. The domain was purchased from Internet Real Estate LTD (Media Options). The company is currently using QuirkBooks.com for its main domain name.

IndoorGeneration.com  has been acquired by a currently unknown CSC Corporate Domains client, using generic whois data. The domain was only registered on January 5, 2017 and under whois privacy at GoDaddy since registration. Due to the email address used by CSC, it is in-line with the domain being acquired.

DHX Media acquired Peanuts Worldwide LLC in May 2017 and acquired some great domain names in the process of the $345 million dollar deal. A few of those domain names include Peanuts.com, which is used as the main domain name for the brand. CharlieBrown.com and Snoopy.com were also involved and redirect to Peanuts.com currently. The domain names have transferred out of CSC Corporate Domains over to Amazon’s registrar.

Mars Incorporated registered TeamSnickers.com adding to the 3,600 other domain names they currently own.

Resolution.com has been sold at Sedo for $50,000. According to whois history records, the domain name was owned by Resolution Software, Inc. of Lubbock, Texas prior. Resolution Software has owned the domain for awhile but had a bit of “odd” whois activity around late February 2016 when the domain transferred to GoDaddy under a Kezhik Oorzhak with a Russian email address. Whois then went to privacy and the domain was then transferred later to Tucows in April/May 2016. Then Resolution Software, Inc reappears in whois with the domain moving back to Network Solutions in late May or early June 2016. At the time and prior, the domain name Zoraptera.com was used in whois records for the registrant and admin contact, which expired and was dropped from the registry on February 12, 2016 and was registered at Internet.bs. Based on this, I’m confident that Resolution.com was stolen in February 2016 and the expired domain name Zoraptera.com was used in its efforts to get Resolution.com.

In the end, it appears the rightful owners got the domain asset back and have now sold it.

Di.com has moved to status ClientHold, which often indicates a potential problem with the domain name, potentially a legal filing.

Draft.com has been acquired by Paddy Power Betfair / StarStreet, Inc. for “high six figures” from Digimedia in a domain name upgrade from PlayDraft.com. In a Forbes.com article about the company and the purchase of the domain name, co-CEO Jordan Fliegel makes an important statement, which I strongly agree with. “We’re growing so fast, and we want to be very consistent with our brand all across.” Being consistent with your brand is very important. Also, using a premium domain name like Draft.com provides an authoritative and official gateway to the companies offering.  If you are DRAFT, your logo is draft, everything is DRAFT this and DRAFT that, you need to own Draft.com! Easy to remember and simply makes sense. Expensive, yes, great investment, absolutely!

Eratio AS has acquired its exact match domain name Eratio.com at domain name aftermarket service Sedo for $3,500.

Collab IP Inc. with the help of Marksmen, has acquired Tethr.com from its past owners. The domain has been registered since 2005.

ClaimSimple.com has been acquired by a currently unknown CSC Corporate Domains client at Afternic, from HugeDomains. The domain held a buy now of $2,295

Blackhawk Network Holdings, Inc. has acquired ChoiceGift.com from BuyDomains.com for an undisclosed amount.

BBLZ.com has been acquired by PepsiCo, Inc. from its past owners. The domain was for sale and registered with Uniregistry prior.

Tech Bureau Corp. has acquired TheToken.com from Frank Schillings Name Administration Inc. Frank also sold EquipmentTraining.com to Ferrari Driving School Inc. as well as MobileFuel.com, LabConnect.com, GourmetNuts.com and BedFun.com

White-Rodgers (Emerson) acquired 80Series.com via DropCatch.com

Tesla registered the domain name TeslaSCC.com adding to the nearly 900 other domain names they currently own.

  1. Great to see Paddy Power explaining the importance of a domain name matching your brand exactly. They certainly have the funds needed…

  2. To compete with the likes of Slack and offerings from people like Microsoft, Google, Facebook and the like, you would need a great domain.

    Like Stride.com.

That’s what Atlassian has just named its new collaboration, messaging, task management, audio and video conferencing offering.

The Stride transfer to MarkMonitor was covered by DotWeekly in yet another scoop on July 11.
