Domain Movers: Latch.com, Steroid.org + More

Here are the latest Domain Movers with a corporate focus. Not a huge list today but these are the ones that grabbed my attention in the past 48 hours:

Steroid.org has been sold for $4,500 by Before The Dot to UK company Juicy Llama. They used the contact form on Bruce’s website and closed the deal via Escrow.com. Bruce acquired it on the drop in August 2016 for $431 via DropCatch. To note, BuySteroids.org sold for $10K on Sedo in 2011.

Thanks to Bruce for sharing the details of the sale, as it’s always nice to hear things from start to finish and the small details of how they contacted etc. I wouldn’t say it’s common to have a nice flip like this, but it does happen when investing in make sense domain names.

Safecharge International Group Limited has acquired DemandMore.com from GoDaddy, out of the NameFind domain portfolio for an undisclosed amount.

Derivative Inc. has acquired TouchDesigner.com for its Derivative TouchDesigner visual development platform for an undisclosed amount.

SimplyMoving.com has been acquired by Simply Moving LLC of Bronx New York. The domain has been registered since 2003 and the transaction was handled by Escrow.com.

Home Box Office, Inc. registered the domain HereNowHBO.com adding to the 2,300 other domains they own.

Penguin Random House Limited registered PlayWarCross.com, at least for now. WarCross.com is currently being offered for sale.

Prestone.com has changed ownership. The domain name moved from Prestone Products Corporation to KIK Holdco Company Inc. and this was related to the sale of the company for $230 million. The sale took place in February 2016, with the domain just changing ownership.

ConnectedToYou.com has been acquired by a currently unknown CSC Corporate Domains client. The domain was owned by BuyDomains prior and held a $2,788 offering price.

Group Services Inc. has done a domain name upgrade and has acquired EMD GroupServices.com at domain name aftermarket service Afternic. The company uses GroupServicesInc.com currently. The domain was owned by GoDaddy’s NameFind prior.

Seeker.com did a bit of movement (as well as many Discovery owned domains) and now shows Group Nine Media as the registrant email in whois. This relates to the $100 million dollar investment by Discovery to create the new digital venture, Group Nine.

Latch.com has been acquired by a new smart lock startup company called Latch that was using LatchAccess.com prior. CEO Luke Schoenfelder appears in whois records for Latch.com on December 16, 2016. They are currently still redirecting Latch.com to LatchAccess.com but I expect that to change in the near future. They “get it” and in order to be taken seriously, the premium EMD is vital in branding efforts and communication.

Latch-com

If you are going to brand yourself as “Latch”, you better own the exact match .com domain to remove any confusion! This isn’t just in branding, website visitors, vendors… vital email communication as well, something that is far too often overlooked!
