Domain Movers: HVM.com, PureForce.com + More

hvm.com

This is Domain Movers. We keep track of company related domain name transactions, well, because it’s important and you learn from these!

To note, I have been struggling lately detecting movements. I heavily rely on DomainTools and one of the tools I use is called Registrant Monitoring. I monitor several specific corporate focused companies and the monitor allows me to see “movement”. In general, most movement/changes in whois records mean little to nothing. It’s my job to detect the ones that do mean something. These reports are limited to 750 a day. On September 13, 2017, something happened and it’s not DomainTools fault, registries for .info, .org, .biz are making small changes to records and this is causing the domains to appear as a “change”. For me, this change means nothing, but it’s important for DomainTools to note these changes as it may mean something to others.

Since the reports are limited to 750 movements a day, the reports are clogged with .info, .biz, .org and a few other extensions and no real change (no sale or significant changes) are happening. Often, the list only includes domains up to the letter D in the alphabet, so I see little actual movements.

I just wanted to make you aware of this and is part of the reason behind a lack of Domain Movers lately. I feel like I’m letting you down, but I’m trying my best to continue to provide these useful reports.

Deutsche Welthungerhilfe e.V. has acquired WHH.org at domain name aftermarket service Sedo.com for $9,888.

Maria Diet S.L. has acquired Variet.com also at Sedo.com for $2,392

DreiBrüder GmbH has acquired LocalCompany.com out of GoDaddy’s NameFind portfolio for an undisclosed amount.

Caterpillar Inc. registered several “Utility Vehicle” domains. Those included: CaterpillarUtilityVehicle.com, CaterpillarUtilityVehicles.com, CatUtilityVehicle.com, CatUtilityVehicles.com and CatUTV.com

Drive Square LLC has acquired the generic domain name DrivingSimulator.com from Name Administration Inc. for an undisclosed price (likely five figures). The domain is currently redirecting to https://www.drivesquare.com/drivingsimulator/ which offers driving simulator’s for police, fire, fleets and general driving training.

Abbott Laboratories registered 8 new domain names adding to the 6,900+ other ones they already own. Those included: BetterCGM.com/.net, FreeYourFingers.com/.net, YouCanDoItWithoutFingerPricks.com/.net and YouCanDoItWithoutFingerSticks.com/.net

PureForce.com has transferred from Tucows to brand protection service MarkMonitor. The domain is shown with the registrant of Ecolab Incorporated. The domain was owned by “Pure Force” prior with an Amplex.net email address, which is owned by Amplex Electric, Inc. Ecolab has a business division called Pure Force that offers cleaning and sanitation services. So this appears to have been a sale as the companies do not appear to be connected.

VideoBlocks has rebranded as StoryBlocks and has purchased StoryBlocks.com from its past owners. The domain has been registered since 2013 and was parked with Sedo at the time of the sale. The purchase appears to have taken place in May 2017 with the domain transferring to GoDaddy under whois privacy and selling on Sedo for $2,900 EUR / $3,237 USD.

To note, StoryBlock.com recently moved into whois privacy at NameBright and may have also been acquired.

KG.com has been sold and moved into the Chinese market. The domain name was owned by domain investor Jay Westerdal and was for sale at the time of the sale.

Maxar.com has been acquired by domain buying service Marksmen for a currently unknown client.  The domain held an $8,000 buy now in late 2016 and the price jumped in 2017 to $20,000 and likely sold for that amount or close to it.

ScheduleRepair.com has been acquired also by Marksmen for a currently unknown buyer. This domain was owned by BuyDomains and held a $4,288 buy now at the time of the sale.

Clever Thinking PTY LTD has acquired CleverBet.com out of GoDaddy’s NameFind portfolio for an undisclosed amount. (likely 4 figures)

Empty Chair Ltd. of London has acquired its EMD, EmptyChair.com, also out of GoDaddy’s NameFind portfolio.

Afound.com has been acquired at Sedo in July 2017 for an undisclosed amount and the buyer is very likely a MarkMonitor client. The domain fits a common pattern of transferring to Dynadot under privacy. A very large amount of Afound new gTLD domain names have been registered at MarkMonitor.

FCA US LLC (Fiat Chrysler Auto) has registered several “Drive Plus” related domain names. DodgeDrivePlus.com, DrivePlusCard.com, FCADrivePlus.com and FiatDrivePlus.com. DrivePlus.com is currently for sale via Uniregistry.

Miny.com which I had mentioned on September 14, 2017 that it sold out of GoDaddy’s NameFind portfolio to an unknown CSC client, the buyers are J. Walter Thompson Company LLC. JWT is a marketing communications company. I noted earlier that CSC client CME Group owns Miny.biz and were a potential buyer at the time.

HVM.com appears to have sold. The domain has transferred from Network Solutions over to GoDaddy. Whois records show the domain was owned by insurance agency Hackett, Valine & MacDonald, which is now part of NFP. Whois records still show Hackett, Valine + MacDonald BUT the domain name is resolving to Harvest Volatility Management LLC. Harvest Volatility Management was using HarvestVolMgt.com prior, so this would be a huge domain upgrade for them and much needed! They are based in New York, NY. I think this likely sold, but whois “retained” past ownership info upon transferring into GoDaddy, something that happens often at GoDaddy. There is the potential of a Lease or Payments option also but I’m leaning towards the sale since HVM is now part of NFP.

Universal Companies, Inc. has acquired BeingWell.com out of GoDaddy’s NameFind portfolio for an undisclosed amount and has already launched a website on it. I like it!

  1. A marketing company that works with FCA US LLC inquired on driveplus(dot)com but balked at the middle 5 figure price quote. Needless to say that price quote is no longer valid.
