Domain Movers: Folders.com, Bags.com + More

Short list of Domain Movers today but several great domains in it!

Central Technology Services has acquired MortgageCentral.com out of GoDaddy’s NameFind domain name portfolio. The company owns about 260 domain names.

Oath.com has likely been acquired now by AOL, using The Treadstone Group Inc. who is a known corporate domain name buying service and who appears in whois records now for Oath.com. After reporting early yesterday that AOL had publicly mentioned the new Oath brand and did not secure the EMD, whois changed later in the day to Treadstone Group, so they were likely working on it (in escrow) at the time of the announcement. AOL, CEO Tim Armstrong also confirmed the new brand name was leaked, and may have something to do with the matching .com domain not being in AOL’s ownership at the time of announcement.

The next unknown but interesting question, what did AOL pay for Oath.com and did the leak have any impact on the purchase price.

John Hancock Life Insurance Company has listed JHDR.com for sale, via CSC. The domain was listed for sale on Sedo with a make offer listing.

Folders.com has had some movement. The domain was owned by Folder Factory, Inc. and registered at Network Solutions. The domain has transferred to GoDaddy and is now displaying Bigname Commerce, LLC. of New York in whois records but the past website of the family owned business remains.

Doing some more research, I was able to find a press release by Bigname that states they purchased the Folders.com domain. Within that press release, Bigname also makes mention that they acquired Bags.com to join its Envelopes.com offering. Based on whois history, Bags.com appears to have been acquired between November 2016 and January 24, 2017.  Some great generic domains Bignames is gathering!

RAINS ApS. has acquired its EMD from public company Tucows, by acquiring Rains.com. The domain name was part of Tucows “Mailbank” domain name portfolio that consists of surnames.

Yummy.com changed web hosting but that appears to be the only change. The food delivery service delivers groceries in LA in 30 minutes and has been around for a long time, dating back to at least 2004. Great name!

TicketStations.com .co and .org all have been acquired by a currently unknown CSC Corporate Domains client. TicketStations.net is registered to Diamond Resorts Holdings, LLC who is a CSC client and the likely new owners of the .com, .co and .org domains.

  1. I’m quite interested re: the Rains.com move… I didn’t realize that Tucows sells domains that they’re using in their Realnames.com portfolios. A friend has been after one of those names for awhile and has been rebuffed with each inquiry, but I suppose Tucows has a threshold at which they sell.

I wonder if the buyer of Rains.com is under contract to continue to supply @rains.com email addresses to any existing Realnames.com customers?

    1. @Mike J,
They do sell some Mailbank domains from time to time. Not sure if it reflects ones that are in use or not, but most people are not likely to buy the domain if it holds restrictions on it. If your friend really wants to buy it, have him get in contact with me. I have some contacts with Tucows.

    1. Thanks for sharing Jonathan. So we now know that NeuraLink.com sold for “Tens of thousands”.
