Domain Movers: Escort.com, OcGo.com + More

The port 43 restriction from GoDaddy is making my job even harder, which was already harder from prior mentioned reasons! See more at the bottom of this article why the port 43 restriction is hurting what I do. With that said, here are some more company focused Domain Movers detected over the past 24 hours. This is a very small sample to note:

BitchPower.com has been acquired by a currently unknown CSC Corporate Domains client from HugeDomains. The domain name held a buy now of $2,395 at the time of the sale. Bitch Power appears to be an energy drink of sorts, but I’m sure it could be other things.

Firegroup GmbH has acquired FireCommerce.com at domain name aftermarket service Sedo. I wasn’t able to find a sales price on this one but I’d expect it to be sub-$5K.

NotOn.com has been sold at Sedo, for a second time. The domain sold on Sedo back in 2008 and now again. According to a December 25, 2017 Screenshot history at DomainTools.com, the domain name was redirecting to Norton by Symantec. In general, the domain has lived a parked life, often displaying “Norton” ad links, forwarding to Norton, word dictionary site etc. and would be a legal risk for any owner.

Torus AG has acquired Wvag.com also at Sedo for an undisclosed amount.

Berol Corporation (NewellCo) were the buyers of Crocktober.com, which took place in July 2017 with the help of CSC Corporate Domains but the buyers at that time were unknown.

AirBNB registered BeyondByAirBNB.com and in many different TLD’s (at least 28 domains in one day and more another).

Ideawise Limited has acquired premium generic domain name Escort.com with the transaction taking place at Escrow.com. Based on whois history, it appears the domain moved into escrow around March 2017. The registrant email is associated with PlayaMedia.com, with Ideawise Limited based in Hong Kong.

Hosts.com has been sold out of GoDaddy’s NameFind portfolio for an undisclosed amount, as GoDaddy doesn’t share sales data. If this was Host.com, it would be a 7 figure domain but often the plural of a turn can greatly reduce its value. It’s still a valuable domain name but no as valuable as Host.com. Buyers are currently unknown as the transaction is still in escrow via Afternic.

S THREE MANAGEMENT SERVICES LIMITED has acquired HireFirst.com at Afternic for an undisclosed amount. The company is based in the UK.

Elbgoods GmbH based in Germany has acquired EventLocations.com at Sedo for $15,000 EUR ($18,600 USD). The hyphen version, Event-Locations.com sold on Sedo  for $3,000 EUR in April 2017, with that domain selling to Kreativpanda UG, also in Germany.

MixList.com has been acquired by a currently unknown CSC Corporate Domains client via Afternic. The domain held a buy now of $4,287 at the time of the transaction.

Orange County Transportation Authority has acquired OcGo.com from Frank Schilling’s Name Administration Inc. I wasn’t able to find a sales price on this one, but I’d expect it to be $15K+ based on past sales of similar domains by the company. NAI acquired the domain on NameJet for $585 on April 21, 2017. The domain transferred to Network Solutions, so I’m doing an educated guess that the domain was purchased on a Buy Now via Afternic DLS as the Afternic listing is no longer in place.

Kogan.com Holdings PTY LTD registered a slew of Catch Banking type domain names like CatchBank.com, CatchBanking.com, CatchCarInsurance.com, CatchHomeLoans.com, CatchOnlineBank.com, CatchSuperMarket.com, CatchVisa.com, CatchUtilities.com and more, which included a few Kogan domains like KoganLoan.com, KoganTickets.com.

Bacardi & Company Limited has acquired ArtWithoutLabels.com at Afternic.com for an undisclosed amount. The domain has been registered since 2010.

Novartis AG has acquired Koena.com from Cykon Technology Limited of Hong Kong, who is a domain investor if my memory serves me correctly.

Disney Enterprises, Inc. registered a bunch of UnlimitedSquirrels.com domain names in many different TLD’s. Hyphenated version and non hyphen versions.

GoDaddy sold about 21 domains out of its NameFind portfolio, PrivacyCheck.com $6,599 (BIN) and OpenImage.com $4,199 (BIN) were two that stuck out at me.

Coreteva.com has been acquired by a currently unknown MarkMonitor client. The domain was registered in October 2017

The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America has acquired TheGuardianNetwork.com from BuyDomains, likely in the $2K-$4K range.

DomainTools offers an invaluable service called Whois History. I can not confirm the current whois to the past whois record (or several past) if it’s basically blank. aka:

port43 blocked whois history

There is really NO WAY I can confirm the current whois data, to the past whois data seeing the above. Since basically the Name Server is the only thing displayed. Without being able to see registrant and registrant email address, I can’t make an indication if a domain name has changed ownership. It’s the main process that I do. There is a change detected in whois, I check the current whois to the whois history tool in order to be able to determine if the domain change registrants. Without being able to do this process, I can’t determine if a domain has changed ownership with no data.

Currently, I am only seeing this on GoDaddy domains, but a lot of domains are registered at GoDaddy. I’d say in general, I seen a couple hundred domains I couldn’t check TODAY alone in my normal reports. Withheld By GoDaddy was a common word set I was seeing in my normal reports. That didn’t include the whois history showing what it does above. Seeing the Withheld By GoDaddy in my reports is normally where the Registrant is listed. If I see a business name, I research it further. Just seeing Withheld By GoDaddy would force me to research them all, only to see restricted data via DomainTools.

Seeing the above, time after time will prevent me from doing Domain Movers and I think makes it easier for the bad guys to hide behind domains. It will cut down on spam, sure but I’d expect worse things happening if you can’t tell who owns this domain or if it ties to another etc. Tracking domain thefts will be nearly impossible and much more because GoDaddy’s “whois” is no match to what DomainTools offers. It removes connecting data and the tools used to research.

  1. Cykon is easily at NameJet and leader at dropcatch never stops bidding, and outbidding , hide themselves behind privacy out of China/Hk

  2. GoDaddy is indeed creating a wave of problems with their alleged protection against “unscrupulous spammers.” Which you are not! Thank you for the report.

    1. Since whois history is showing basically a “blank record” due to the port 43 blocking on some GoDaddy domains… that creates a big gray area as to what happened, is happening etc with specific domain names. In general terms, it makes it worse and easier for the bad guys to hide!

    2. I updated the article to include more info why the Port43 blocking is causing an issue with Domain Movers.

  3. Thanks for another wonderful information,Jamie.Always interesting and not an easy job .Really appreciate the effort.

  4. Cykon technology is a group of investors, that remain unknown as they only represent themselves as Cykon.
