Corporate Domain Movers From WalMart, Google & More

Welcome to the latest round of DotWeekly Discoveries powered by DomainIQ.com of corporate domain name purchases, company domain registrations and simply domain movers by some of the largest companies on the internet. I spend countless hours digging up the following information that you are going to read in a few minutes, so enjoy!

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.

Has registered the domain name YesToPharmacies.com .

Similar domain registered at MarkMonitor: SaveOurLocalPharmacies.com (but this one is using generic whois data. Is it connected to Wal-Mart? Not sure.

Appleton Grp LLC (emerson)

Has registered the domain names MasteringLED.com and Mastering-LED.com . This likely has something to do with Emerson Industrial as they have the Viamaster and Mercmaster LED series.

Xero Limited ?

Xero Limited appears to be picking a fight with INTUIT INC. based on several domain name registrations. Xero uses the domain name registrar CSC Corporate Domains and that is where the
following domains were registered. Intuit uses Network Solutions.

quickbooksorxero.com
quickbooksorxero.net
quickbooksorxero.org
quickbooksversusxero.com
quickbooksversusxero.net
quickbooksversusxero.org
quickbooksvsxero.com
quickbooksvsxero.net
quickbooksvsxero.org
xeroorquickbooks.com
xeroorquickbooks.net
xeroorquickbooks.org
xeroversusquickbooks.com
xeroversusquickbooks.net
xeroversusquickbooks.org
xerovsquickbooks.com
xerovsquickbooks.net
xerovsquickbooks.org

Xero’s website puts a great deal of focus on “See why others switch from QuickBooks to Xero” and “The QuickBooks alternative is here” front and center!
The QuickBooks Trademark was filed in 2002, but maybe Xero Limited isn’t aware of trademark laws? http://trademarks.justia.com/781/90/quickbooks-78190813.html

QuickBooks Versus Xero could really have a “new meaning” to Xero if or when Intuit wants to force legal action on its trademark.

It appears that CSC Corporate Domains has acquired the domain name N-E-X-T.com on behalf of a client. Maybe Kevin Rose started something….. (he is using N-O-R-T-H.com with his latest venture)

Johnson Controls

Has acquired Air Distribution Technologies for $1.6 Billion which completed on June 16, 2014  and the domain ReliableHVAC.com which was owned by ADR is in the process of transferring ownership. AirDistribution.com was the main domain used.

Often times when companies are acquired like this, the domains owned by the company are included in the sale… Since I didn’t dig all the documents, even if they are available publicly it
is often hard to find. ADR owns about 139 domain names.

Domestic & General Group Limited

Registered the following domain names: ApplianceForLife.com, ApplianceForLifeClub.com and WorryFreeClub.com

Unknown

A currently unknown MarkMonitor client registered the domain names FashionMayday.com .net .org

Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation

Registered the domain names ScrappedOut.com and SchoolHighs.com

Mondelez International, Inc.

Registered the domain name OreoMe.com for a likely campaign to go with its popular Oreo brand.

Tencent Mobility Limited

Was the buyers of iPick.com that I had mentioned not that long ago in another article. They have set domain name servers but the domain does not resolve yet to a site, but likely will soon. As of April 2014, Tencent is the 4th largest internet company, only behind Google, Amazon and eBay.

Altria Client Services Inc.

Owners of the Marlboro brand, have registered the domain name WinterSweeps.com

Twitter Inc.

Has secured the domain name TwitterFlight.com from a Robert Metcalf. These type of domains have the potential to be obtained “by legal means” or simply purchased, so it’s hard to say how Twitter secured it. Twitter was founded March 21, 2006 and this domain was registered on 5/13/2009. Twitter Inc. filed for the “Twitter” trademark on April 26, 2007.

Twitter Flight makes me wonder if the name will have anything to do with Dronie?

Johnson & Johnson / Reckitt Benckiser Group plc

I wasn’t aware that Reckitt had purchased the K-Y brand from J&J but it was announced in early March 2014 (I did notice that the K-Y.com domain transferred from MarkMonitor to CSC but wasn’t sure why, so I thought J&J was pulling out of MM…) but yesterday over 300 domain names transferred ownership from J&J to RB that had to do with the KY Lube brand and the sale of the brand is the reason why.

Unilever Plc

Registered the domain name CloseupMoments.com

Unknown

MarkMonitor appears to have purchased the domain name LifeToTheFullest.com from BuyDomains for an undisclosed amount in June 2014.

Google Inc.

Appears to have acquired the domain name GoogleWing.com. This domain was “Repossessed By Godaddy“, which you can read an article I wrote back in 2011 to learn more about what that is.

VerticalAffiliation.com

Something is up with the domain / business (Time For Now). The domains VerticalAffiliation.com / .net were regsitered with Network Solutions and in July the .net was transferred to
MarkMonitor and the .com, DNS was changed to MarkMonitor in early June 2014. The .com has now transferred in but both domains hold generic whois data DNStination Inc.

VerticalAffiliation.com is an adult affiliate network.

I’m not sure if the company or site sold, or if the company is simply switching to MarkMonitor for its domain needs.

Bombardier Recreational Products Inc.

Registered the domain names F3Rider.com, F3Riders.com and F3Ryde.com . They also registered SpiderF3.com . That domain lead me to the newly announced Spyder F3 by Cam-Am, which was announced on a Spyder forum. All the details of the Spyder F3 will be released on September 23, 2014

This lead me to look into SpyderF3.com, which was registered at Tucows on 5/8/2014 and under privacy protection. The domain is live and displays the 2015 Can-Am Spyder Roadster F3 model.
The .net was registered at the same time and also under privacy protection. I expect these domains to transfer into CSC at some point in the near future. Again, a tactic used to “hide” the
new name of the future product.

Unknown

CSC Corporate Domains has acquired the domain name CruiseWatchdog.com on behalf of a client. Likely via Sedo or directly from the past owner.

Day1.com

Moved registrants from Interthinx, which is a subsidiary of First American Financial Corporation to FATCO Holdings LLC, which is a subsidiary of First American Title Insurance Company. The
domain Day1.com now redirects to ACIWeb.com . ACI specializes in comprehensive solutions for real estate appraisers, management companies and lenders. ACIWeb.com is owned by FATCO Holdings
LLC according to whois. The reason for the registrant change, hard to say… but just wanted to give you an idea how my head can spin sometimes trying to figure out if a domain “sold” or
what the recent activity is on the domain based on whois data.

Match.com LLC

Has revealed they were the buyers of Deliteful.com . They used Brand Certified, Inc (domain buyer) to acquire the domain. The domain was owned by HODGE INTERACTIVE according to whios records.

AbbVie Inc. (Abbott)

Has registered the domain name DoubleWhammyAvatar.com

Rentals.com

Took a virtual trip from domain registrar eNom to MarkMonitor but retained the same owner in the process, Consumer Source Holdings LLC.

Sold Domains

Rime.com GoDaddy Auctions $12,811
TheMutual.com GoDaddy Auctions $1,180
Ruce.com $3,600 GDA
Paha.com $5,350 GDA
Mibe.com $4,453 GDA
NFA.org which expired on 6/5/14 and went to a NameJet.com Pre-Release auction and sold for $1,101 on 7/14 to Exis Media, LLC, was flipped on 7/25 to Futures.org for an undisclosed amount.
