This is Domain Movers. We keep track of company related domain name transactions and report these early findings. These are often indicators of new brands, domain upgrades, future advertising efforts and more.

Transaction volume has been lower than normal the past couple of days, so I’ll blame that on the solar eclipse and the end of summer!

Unilever has acquired IceCreamNow.com from DomainMarket.com for an undisclosed price. Unilever had also acquired IceCreamDelivery.com in early August 2017.

Zackary.com has been sold by GoDaddy’s NameFind. The domain name held an offering price of $15,000. The buyers are currently unknown.

QuickBase, Inc. has acquired AppsEmpowered.com with the help of Marksmen. The domain was registered on May 16, 2017 by “Home Of Domains”, who is a trademark chaser as I have noted several times. On May 12, 2017 QuickBase filed a TM for the Apps Empowered term.

Drip.com has transferred out of SafeNames to GoDaddy and now displays Avenue 81, Inc. in whois records as the owners. The domain was for sale in 2014 and sold, which I reported here and transferred to SafeNames under privacy in August 2014. It is unclear when Avenue 81 purchased it. Drip.com is redirecting to Drip.co, which is owned by Avenue 81 and is an email marketing service.

Esports Entertainment has acquired Orena.com at domain name aftermarket service Afternic.com for an undisclosed amount. The domain was owned by GoDaddy’s NameFind division and moved into escrow on May 4, 2017. Orena is actually a surname but more likely a branding play on “Arena”.

Mafia.com has been listed for sale by corporate brand protection service MarkMonitor. The domain appears to be owned by Zynga as it redirected in the past to MafiaWars.com. Zynga closed that game in June 2016

2 Responses to Company Domain Movers: Drip.com, Orena.com + More
  1. Was just researching Avenue 81 as I was going to inquire on drip.io which they own as well. Looks like they have a history in the domain world… http://domainnamewire.com/2015/01/29/leadpages-is-a-reverse-domain-name-hijacker/

  2. Nationstar may have rebranded because it never owned Nationstar.com, which goes to a Chinese company of the same name. Surely, there was significant traffic leakage away from NationStarMtg.com to NationStar.com. Yet, the company failed to learn its lesson and only registered MrCooper.com and failed to get MisterCooper.com as well. Doh!
